Just to start it off.. What the heck is up with the level 90 abilities? Almost every other class that I've looked at (especially Death Knights) level 90 abilities are something new and awesome. Mage gets Blast Wave, Dragon's Breath, or Slow? Seriously? Something tells me those HAVE to be place holders.

I think we only had two new abilities. The first tier freeze/silence (pvp) talent and the cast 2 spells while moving on a 45 sec CD talent.

Almost all of the talent tiers seemed like exclusively PvP tier talents.

    WTB Warlock self-healing.

I would assume so, but the other tiers we received almost make up for it.

For example? Maybe I missed something, but I couldn't think of any interesting choices we have to make.

Edit: And by we, I mean PvE mages.

Meh mage talents are boring esspecially the level 90 ones and what kind of choice is between mana shiled and ice barrier it's a no brainer( lol blazing speed ). The first tier is interesting pvp wise but looking at whole from a pve perspective these talents suck.

Mages get the lamest talents of all classes... I hope they will change them.

The mage talents do seem the least interesting so far really, though I'm not really that upset as I suppose it's just compensation for playing what is clearly the best class

I mean my god, have you seen the warlock talents? They are fucking sexy
That is THEIR compensation for playing the WORST class

Don't believe anything you read in this signature.
Except the link to my armoury, you can believe this.
    Or can you?

Boring, phoned-in, and completely lame compared to virtually every other class. I'm usually not one for hyperbole or QQ but I hope to god this was just placeholder stuff and things change because after 5 years I might have to retire my mage.

    Talk about underwhelming....
My god the mage talent preview was horrible. Completely phoned in, nothing clever or new whatsoever. The lvl 90 talents especially were just a huge slap to the face. Slow, Blastwave and DB for lvl 90s? Really?

Mages are most booring. I'm jealos now

while its true that the mage talents are boring at least you wont be disapointed like warlock will once 95% of them will be nerfed to oblivion
or will get 1 powerfull talent that blizzard feel is to powerfull and nerf all other spells by 13% then nerf that talent without compensating ....

still waiting to see what they will do for fire so far its only utility or cd talents i wanna see some core mechanics so i wont need to shelf my mage :s

like for example what will happen to ignite and other things.
i assume they will be tied to spec as you level up but we will see

What. The. Fuck. These 'changes' are a load of BS. Almost every other class get's some extremely interesting and exciting abilities. What do we get? Some extra polymorph crap (Because you know we use it a lot) and some crap level 90 abilities. Seriously, what the hell.
Archaic is Recruiting for Guild Wars 2!

Two things: Mages got boned. Mages got boned.

I hate to be one those peoples that threatens cancellation, but this really pushes it.

I think the mage talents are roughly on the level of where Shaman talents are. We got screwed :<.

T1 gives nice choices for PvE and PvP CC, which, contrary to popular belief, used to be a MAJOR part of the game. If this is any sign of needing more of it, I'm all for it.

T2 again provides utility, which I am an avid fan of. Remember kids, there's more to raiding, PvP, and DPS than just pure damage.

T3 has the most weeeeeeeee moments for me when I was reading it. Being able to choose between having a single instant cast spell or being able to cast while moving. Another thing that can separate good Mages from the LOL I HATE EVERYTHING CROWD.

T4 is the least exciting, but still gives a choice in what kind of survivability you want.

T5 is a tier that, if you don't like, you didn't farm the Turtle or Pig Polymorph spells.

Again, I've granted the last tier is nothing special, but I think people are confusing "renamed" with "new". Having looked over all the other talents for the other classes...a lot of them simply aren't new EFFECTS, but new names in new places. Further more, we don't know the full extent of class changes, just talent changes. Who knows, we might not need any padding in super fancy talents since we'll be doing fine anyway.

Not to pour out any hate or anything, but wth? The lvl90 talents are supposed to be the cream of the crop, and instead its just....terrible. The next x-pac looks like it has some cool stuff, and the panda things seems alright but...this game has just lost its flavor to me. I guess after 6 1/2 years of this game its just time to move on. Not with any other mmo as all I would do is try and compare it to TBC stlye WoW or w/e. Just done with the MMO genre as a whole. Cata killed my 25 man guild I had been in since Kara was hot shit, my friends that I truly enjoyed playing this game with have all quit in cata either because they felt it was time to move on or didn't like the path Blizz took with Cata, and other various reasons. I wanted to stick around until the end of this x-pac but...just not the same. Good luck with 4.3 all and with the new x-pac....get a kill for me.

Why are people even getting shitty about the changes? Who knows if they will even be there by time they release the xpac. It's all a work in progress at the moment.

I think you're giving it too much credit. Mana shield, seriously? Cold snap is a joke now....Dragon's breath? I don't even know where to begin. And it should be noted that no one would care if mages obtained some awesome fundamental changes (like locks), but nope, nothing.

Unless mana shield is buffed by 300% at least, and Dragon's breath now shoots out fire 40 yards in front of the caster for 20,000 damage, then yeah, no excuses.

I am praying that these are placeholders.
