If you can CTC without the mastery from Spindle or Essence, it's great. Stam trinkets are good for either magic heavy fights where block becomes less powerful, or if you are already CTC capped. Heroic Scales is a good trinket to switch in when the boss does heavy magic damage. Don't use it on high physical damage fights if it costs you CTC cap.
