    Lets talk new BGs

    As much as I love they're finally adding a new arena and some MUCH needed game types the one that most intrigues me is definitely the dota one I'm a huge fan of Dota/LoL/HoN, not going to state which one it is that I play since that's another discussion,

    but I'm just thinking how will it work will it be the same 3 lanes with "creeps" Only probably a mix of horde guards/Alliance guards depending on faction running destroying towers? maybe a boss/ish thing and then down to finally destroying/capturing a base? I highly doubt they would add a leveling/gear purchasing system into it not sure what they'd do about the map and fog. And I can see them adding maybe a boss type guy that drops and item for that bg that res's you. I would love to hear your guys thoughts, maybe it would even be a vehicle bg where you level vehicles with different type of abilities and such.

    Azshara Crater - DOTA


    They do know how DotA works, right? Don't get me wrong, if they pull it off, it will make grinding honor so much more fun, but will it be half DotA half WoW? Completely DotA? If it's still mostly WoW, how will leveling up and buying items/acquiring gold work? Could be very interesting.

    I see it working 2 possible ways, either you go out as normal WoW characters and play but there's just no leveling or item purchasing which I know is a large part of DoTa but I still think it would make BGs a LOT more entertaining, or b) you get vehicles with specific roles maybe that you level those up/buy items with those I could see that working quite well

    I think its gonna be similar to the (I forgot the quest) you control Arthas you kill a bunch of soldiers and turn them into zombies quest thing or the karazhan chess event type. They could make the gold that appears near the buttons you need to press for abilites and inventory as another button or something we have to see but =S

    I appreciate the effort on Blizzards part, but they realy should let DotA stay out of World of Warcraft.

    There's a million obvious questions that springs to my mind where the simplest of gameplay mechanics will take this plan tie its hands and completely violate it.

    I have to say, i LOVE these plans. Fianlly theyre nto coppying old BGs, but making brand new ones and i can really see how these can be fun and especially in premades, well done blizz!

    Well looks like DoTa could work quite well but what about this Murderball game where you hold X and get points for your team while holding X does that work like when you die the person who got the kill get's the item? or it just drops on the ground? I would hate for it to just drop because that way the quicker finger/latency will get it, unless they added something where the team who just had it has to wait 3 seconds or something

    these are just my thoughts. dont take them so seriously:

    STV = knockback favored playstyle.

    VOP = FC tank with a crapload of heals.

    TPG = areana so i could care less. i dont know how to analyze it, anyways.

    To fix the knock back thing they could just make the npc's pushing the diamonds immune to stun/push backs etc and just need to be zerged, and with the VoP thing it's allready like that with regular CTF Bgs so I don't see how this will be much worse if both teams do it

    I really love the TPG arena because it's just a basic square with four static pillars, no fancy pillars that goes up and down or a waterfall that breaks the LoS.
    Random mechanic environment should not be in an arena in any "esport" or what you wanna call it. You dont have random things showing up on the football court, Counterstrike match or Starcraft2, it should not be in an wow arena either.

    I do agree but a slight correction, in Dalaran arena and the other one with rising/dropping pillars they are not "random" but timed, which I agree should not happen as it can cost games and completely turn the tables

    If they keep DotA exactly like the RTS style it would absolutely amazing. Allow a separate leveling environment in the BG with random item purchases where you own starting gear has very little effect. Slay creature waves for gold, push towers. I think they can really pull it off if they don't deviate from the formula. Here's to hoping they bring back old AV in the form of another BG though.

    i was talking about players. nobody to protect the cart peoples = ez wins to whoever has the knockbacks. i do like the idea of knockback immune npcs. i kinda figured that blizz will have to implement those guys.
