Must play BF3 and i cant get a new PSU yet.

My friend is giving me his old hd 6870 for 60 euros. But im still stuck with a weak 450w PSU.
Would i be able to run the card with a Phenom II x2 555, 4GB RAM, 1 HDD, the HD 6870?

Im aware that the 6870 uses 151w at max. My PSU has two rails and theyre both so weak. 14A and 15A.
that would be 168 watts and 180 watts on both rails right? But still its not. Since the sticker says that max combined wattage on 12v rails = 288 watts.
Is there any way this could work? Even if i downclock my CPU to like 3ghz or something, and downclock the GPU too if i can.

150w GPU + 80w CPU = 230 watts. But i dont think that theyll split on the 12v rails properly right..

edit: But actually. with my Phenom II x2 unlocked to Heka and OC'd to 3.4ghz via multiplier. HWmonitor is showing the CPUPower as 158W.
that added to a 96 watt 9600GT is 254 watts.. if the CPU wattage really is as high as 158 watts.

The 12v rails aren't independent... most "multi-rail" psu's don't actually have multiple rails internally, they just split the single rail into multiple rails, then put limiters on each of them. The sum of the individual limiters is usually higher than the total allowed.
You'd definitely need to downclock your cpu to get it under 100w under load if you want to use the 6870.
You should also be able to downclock the 6870 using CCC or something.
If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One... now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds.
