My current hard drive is a 500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM HDD and im looking for a hard drive where I can store my games and music and if possible would like some recommendation, budget is below $100 though. Thanks!

get rid of all that porn,, lol, jk,

seriously, you can get a good external hard drive for about 100 bucks, use that to hold your game files/movies i think you can get a nice 1 TB one for 100-129 depending on the store you go too, a 500 gig might even be around 60-80

I know you said 100, but if you really want one that will hold everything and more, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152245

Annnd, what is taking up most of your space? If its music/videos/pictures, you could get an external for about the same price.

Also if you buy a new internal hard drive, you need to put windows on it, so you need your windows key (i think, don't quote me on this).

Wow, HDDs have gone up quite a bit since the crisis...

1TB internal is still relatively inexpensive, and will be good for what you are looking for.

I suggest for now to delete what you don't need, and move all of your music/movies to the new hard drive when you get it.

These two are meant to be storage drives. Happy hunting

You can get fairly large quality drives for cheap. Personally I find external drives to slow. You can pick up 2TB drives for around the $100 mark.

Get a western digital black edition or samsung spinpoint drives. Both great quality. Just find a size that is adequate in your price range.

This is simply incorrect. Just buy a new internal drive, put it in your computer with your old one, tadaah. No need to reinstall windows...
It's not difficult, just open your case, click the new HDD in there, connect to Mobo with sata cable, connect to PSU with powercable, done.
For 100dollar you can get a very good hdd. Just got a caviar black for 50 euros, which through VAT is about equal to dollar, was 500Gb though

If at all possible, you should find a way to hold off purchasing a new hard drive for a few months. Due to the flooding in Thailand and ensuing plant shutdowns, prices on most hard drives are up about 50% across the board, so you're not going to get near as much for your limited budget right now.

The WD Black 1TB (WD1001FALS) that I picked up in late June for $84.99 is now $149.99, a 76% increase.

The WD Black 2TB (WD2002FAEX) that I picked up in late August for $154.99 is now $229.99, a 44% increase.

Most brands are affected, some more, some less, but now is just not a good time to be in the hard drive market.

This. It's almost pointless wasting money on a HDD now unless you need it badly. I bought a caviar blue one because caviar black 500gb have gone up to 72 pound, around 120$ here.
