What is your budget? How long do you plan to use this before upgrading/replacing it again? Which games are you playing and plan to play in the near future?

I doubt that the computer you have now is upgradable to meet your needs. You would basically have to do a complete system overhaul, which basically means build a new rig.
As already mentioned, i5 2500k and a GTX 560Ti or 6950 would be sufficient to play any game on ultra settings (at 1080p).[23:43:22] [P] [85:Bowsjob]: If its between 2 holy pallys its gonna be a gear fight most likely
