MoP Alliance city concept: New Theramore

I originally posted this in this thread, but I decided the idea merited it's own thread. So here is an expanded version of what I see the new Alliance city as:

    New Theramore

Though the city of Theramore fell, many of the survivors, including Jaina Proudmoore, have arrived on Pandaria and with the aide of the rest of the Alliance constructed a new city on the western side of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Built around the ruins of an abandoned Mogu citadel, the Alliance has set to work repairing the dilapidated fortifications and building their own. The citadel (now called Proudmoore Keep) is set against a mountainside and the city is encircled by a wall of Human stonework.

    Districts

Proudmoore Keep is an ancient Mogu structure. Though the old emblems and banners of the Mogu have been replaced by Theramore symbols, the architecture is unmistakable. It is from this keep Jania not only seeks to rebuild the once proud kingdom of Theremoore, but to strike back against those that destroyed her former home.
Services: Quests, New Theramore Rep vendor, City Leader, Inn

The Merchant district has provides many of a city's basic services. Here you can find an Auction House, a Bank, an Inn, as well as various traders pedaling goods from across Pandaria. It is located just west of Proudmoore Keep and it's construction is very reminiscent of old Theramore.
Services: Bank, AH, Inn, Transmogifier, Void Storage, Reforging, Profession Trainers, General vendors.

The Military District. Located directly between Proudmoore Keep and the gates of the city, the Military district contains an armory where you will find any profession trainers not found in the Merchant District. This is also where the bulk of New Teramore's military is stationed, lead by General Garran Vimes.
    Services: Repair, Profession Trainers, Inn

The Ambassador's District. Located to the east of Proudmoore Keep, the Ambassador's District contains Embassies for every one of the Alliance's major nations as well as every neutral faction located on or with an interest in Pandaria. Structures here are wildly varied, from traditional Human stonework to the strange Crystalline structures of the Draenei. The Ambassadors within are always looking for adventurers with knowledge of Pandaria and will pay generously for anyone willing to assist them in their quests.
Services: Quests, Inn, Exotic Goods vendors.

    Notable Characters

    Jania Proudmoore:
Knowing that reinforcements were too far away to make much of a difference, Jania silently evacuated most of Theramoore's population before the first demolishers came rumbling up the causeway to Theramore. Though the defenders of Theramoore fought bravely against the invading Horde, only 1 out of 10 escaped on the last ships to leave. Jania herself would of been captured had she not teleported away at the last possible moment. The survivors carried the word of Theramore's fall across the whole of the Alliance and rallied the faction to war like never before.

Though Jania typically shuns violence, she has decided the only way to stop the Horde's recent aggression is to meet it with overwhelming force. To this end, she has chosen the recently discovered continent of Pandaria to rebuild Theramore to ensure the Horde cannot have control over this new land. After she lead her refugee army to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, she seized control of an abdandoned Mogu citadel and begun to build Theramore anew.

General Garren Vimes: Once the commander of Foothold Citidel in old Theramore, General Garren Vimes escaped on the last boat docked in Theramore's harbor after managing to hold out for an astounding 5 hours after the walls were breached by a force outnumbering the defenders no less then 5 to 1. Though his ship was sunk soon after, he somehow managed to round up enough survivors in the water to take over a Horde warship and complete his escape. Given these events, Jaina promoted Garren Vimes to general and made him commander of all of Theramore's remaining army.

With all the militia that have flocked to New Theramore, Garren Vimes now commands a force larger then old Theramore ever did. Now he plans to battle his way across the Vale of Eternal Blossums and defeat the Horde that have become entrenched on the other side.

Captain Thurman Grant: After his militia was crushed at the battle of Andorhal, Thurman Grant reorganized the remains it into a small guerrilla unit. For several months they harassed the Forsaken supply lines, striking targets as far west as Brill. When the Forsaken finally traced them to their basecamp, they found it completely abandoned and the attacks thereafter ceased. Recently Thurman Grant's militia resurfaced when they arrived at New Theramore and pledged their loyalty to Jaina Proudmoore, having decided that retaking Lordaeron is a lost cause for the present. Thurman Grant was granted the rank of captain and he continued to lead his militia under the banner of New Theramore.

    Farseer Nobundo:
After Mulin Earthfury refused to openly condemn the upswing in Horde aggression that followed the fall of Deathwing, Nobundo cut ties with the Earthen Ring and set about aiding the survivors of Theramore. While he feels the Orcs can still become the peaceful shamanistic society they once were, but it may take centuries for that to actually happen. Until that time comes to pass, he will meet the Horde in battle wherever they threaten the Alliance.

For a newcomer, Nobundo seems to have a deep understanding of Pandaria. It was him that originally put forth the idea of rebuilding Theramore on Pandaria. It was him that lead Jaina Proudmoore to the old Mogu citadel in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms despite never having been on the continent before. He simply see's it as a natural evolution of his abilities, but others are not so sure.

    Final Notes
Obviously the Horde will be getting their own city but for now I wanted to focus on the Alliance one. You are free to comment on my concept or discuss what you'd like to see in the Alliance (or even the Horde) city in MoP.
Remember the lessons of the past, but do not become lost in nostalgia. Seize the moment whenever possible, but not when it could do you great harm down the road. And look to the future as far as you can, but do not become complacent waiting for a brighter future to come to you. For the past, present, and future all have their place in the human psyche, and to see one as superior to the others is the most grievous error a person can make in life.

I like the idea of Nobundo joining up with Jaina after the fall of Theramore. He's underutilized, like the rest of the Draenei, and would be a very good high profile way to bring the Draenei as a whole into the war. I like the idea of the Alliance hub being New Theramore or similar, but I'd really like to see Jaina as more militant, operating on the front lines and leading armies. Varian may be the warrior but its not his city getting destroyed, Take Jaina Proudmoore, have her rally the armies of the Alliance races behind HER banner, and lead the war personally.

Anduin Lothar did much the same in the second war, I don't think Varian has earned the respect he would need to bind the Alliance races together like Lothar did (albeit without the Draenei).

I don't mind the idea of Varian becoming the official leader of the Alliance as long as it's played right. However I think Jania has a lot more potential then Varian does when it comes to actually building a new Human nation on Pandaria considering the fall of Theramore.

Have Varian be the guy out front rallying the troops, but have Jania be just as vital to the Alliance's presence on Pandaria.

I don't want to burst your balloon, but Theramore was essentially New Kul'Tiras. I think we are exceedingly more likely to see the return of Kul'tiras, not Theramore 2.0.

I like the idea, especially including Nobundo in it. He deserves more representation.

I don't want to burst your balloon, but Kul'Tiras is in the south seas and this is NOT the south seas expansion.

It's a good opportunity to shift Jaina to Kul'tiras, but it doesn't preclude Theramore being rebuilt.

Kul Tiras is off the coast of Lordaeron...that's not exactly "south".

I actually thought about the Pandaria Alliance city being called New Theramore myself.

As for Kul Tiras though, I think that could easily still be involved. Kul Tiras can't be the Alliance city on Pandaria, but it could easily get involved after the original Theramore's destruction. In fact, my personal theory regarding the attack on Theramore and proceeding events in 4.4 and beyond is that once Jaina sees that there's no reasoning with Garrosh, she goes straight to her brother to bring Kul Tiras into the war. This could give the Alliance a gameplay replacement for Theramore, while your New Theramore would simply be the capital in Pandaria.

Blizzard apparently said Kul Tiras would not be visible when Cataclysm begins but could show up in a later patch, and supposedly it's moved from it's spot near Gilneas and Tol Barad, so it could be anywhere Blizzard needs it to be.

On a side note, what is likely to happen to the Alliance forces in Dustwallow Marsh after the fall of Theramore? Retreat and set up a fortified outpost deep in the swamp? Just a few scattered refugee camps in hiding? Abandon the zone altogether, making it essentially Horde territory aside from Tabetha's Farm and Mudsprocket? Fall back to Alcaz Island, making it a new Alliance outpost? Fall back to a floating fortified fortress above the swamp that Jaina conjures up because she is awesome?

I'm thinking most likely Alcaz but most wanting a floating fortress.

wasnt kul tiras sacked during the rise of the scourge which is why they went to kalimdor in the first place? proudmoore came here to find jaina and have a new start but started a war with the orcs instead once he descovered their presence. thats when tharamore was founded as a port for their naval force, after the war with kul tiras and the orcs proudmoore was killed and jaina left in charge of theramoore. so i think theramoore was the last great bastion of kul tiras along with that one fortress in durotar. there are though unaccounted search parties that were sent inland in search of jaina when they arrived but nothing substantial so i think a return of kul tiras is highly unlikely but i ofcourse could be wrong. maybe blizzard will do one of those "they were here the entire time, just trapped in mist" things they are so famous for XD

I don't want to keep bursting your balloon, but Pandaria is most definitely the Southrend of WoW, so this may be as close to a "South Seas" expansion as we may get, especially considering Zandalar Isle is already mapped there as well.

So unfortunately, I'm right by all accounts.

Blizzard isn't going to destroy Theramore just so they can transplant it somewhere else. That's poor design. They will add something legitimately new to the game. I'm sure there is a private server out there somewhere who would love to entertain your idea of a displaced Theramore.

The only other islands in the South Seas are small, or spread apart. I agree, Pandaria is basically the only "south seas expansion" we'll get. Unless we eventually just get a "sea" expansion. But even so, Kul'Tiras is near Lordaedon and Gilneas, not in the south seas.

Do you work at blizzard to know what expansions come up and wich expansion is wich?

Guess where will Blizz put Pandaria, somewhere in the south seas, because there is no muddafckin SPACE within azeroth anymore....

Zandalar was supposed to be in the "south seas expansion" too, where it is? in MoP.

theramore was needed for dwarfs and humans to get to south kalimdor without running all down from ashenvale... i think it be best if new theramore of another alliance city is getting build on coast of one of already known zones in southern kalimdor or i myself would put it on Tel'Abim.
