Fixed a few parts of the write up as well as a very big new update on the Vehicle section! Added 4 new vehicles and info about them, as well as updated the Planetside 2 THE9 video in HD. Plan on updates weekly.

    Hey guys!

My name is Matthew Higby, I'm the Creative Director on Planetside 2. I always love to see threads about the game and seeing some of the comments here definitely made me smile. With Planetside 2 we've been making a huge effort to join in the conversations where we can, answer questions, and generally be part of the player community in a way that I've never seen on any other project I've worked on. PlanetSide players are so incredibly passionate about the game, and being able to hear ideas and feedback from people as we're working on it and deciding which direction to take things has been really enlightening and just plain fun.

Anyways, I just wanted to drop in to say thanks for keeping up with what we're doing, being excited about the game, and being a cool community (to be fair, I'm giving you credit for this one without _really_ knowing... I'll have to poke around a bit and make sure =D). If you're interested you can always follow us on twitter where we tend to post behind-the-scenes tidbits and screenshots from time to time, as well as goofy Planetside related nonsense (we had a poetry slam a few weeks ago as well as a pretty good YoMama joke run between myself and our Art Director Tramell Isaac). I'm "mhigby" on there, Tramell is "PS_TRay", and of course we also have "Planetside2" for the "official" announcements (and less profanity).

I'll be sure to check back from time to time to see if there are any questions that I can answer in this thread, but a sure fire way to get my attention is to ping me on twitter and let me know. Thanks to DocDigits on twitter for letting me know you guys were here!

(for some reason this forum won't let me use proper "at" names for twitter handles, gives me an error about not being allowed to post videos... ಠ_ಠ

Really looking forward to this. I never played PS1, but this looks really cool. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it, and I'd love to try it.

No love for Planetside Universe forums hey Higby?... You just be at the next AGN or I will be following you, just not on twitter.

I really like the sound of this game. Definitely something different from what I'm used to playing. Just a couple of questions though. Will you gain power the longer you play as you would in an rpg or is this more along the lines of a fps in a persistent world?

Right now the as far as I know their leveling system is like a mix between WoW and EVE. You'll spend points to certify into certain things. Say you want to focus specifically on being pilot. Then you'd put all your certification points into Aircraft related certifications, which would allow you to unlock new things for your vehicle such as; better guns, new armor, that sort of thing. In addition you may level up your skills off-line ala EVE, though you'd need to be a certain battle rank (The Levels) to acquire certain certifications.

Yea as mentioned with the offline leveling you gain different options for play, like the sidegrades from TF2, while some will be slightly more powerful, most would be sidegrades from the original, they have said that the difference between a newbie and a veteran would be at most 20%, this is made-up by specialisation in offline points, squad leadership bonuses and also the way your outfit is specced.

I use to love PS1 was great fun and even tho many said the giant mechs ruined the game (i happened to love them) it looks like there is no sign of them in PS2 which i guess can be considered a good thing!

Keep up the good work and make sure PS2 brings in just as much freshness, as it keeps its core gameplay.

    I, for one, can't wait.
