it's weird, the differences in taste.

a lot of the beers mentioned here i can't stand, like newcastle and guiness. both of which i think are poorly done (i think deschutes obsidian stout is 100x better than guiness). i also spent some time in germany and couldn't stand most of the beers there.

my preference is very hoppy, very malty ales from western craft brewers. deschutes, stone, lagunitas, rogue, sierra nevada, etc.

double IPAs and barleywines are my favorite.

Lahden Sininen. Best beer ever, period.

Spotted Cow. If you ever find yourself in Wisconsin, I highly recommend you pick up some.

Becks and Berliner Pilsner (both Pilsner)

    Erdinger Weißbier

Erdinger and Becks have good tasting alcohol free versions

weihenstephaner - hefe weißbier... really damn nice hefeweizen... try this one if you like that style
unser bürgerbräu - reichenhaller original hell... drank a lot of this last time i was in berchtesgaden
villacher märzen... probably the best of the mass produced märzen beers in austria
mohrenbräu spezial... its nice... and the logo is remarkably politically incorrect.
and lots of beers from the czech republic are great too

Was on a 3-month roadtrip in the states with two friends like 6 months ago. Had the pleasure of drinking alot of good beer. My clear favourite was Elysian IPA, microbrewery from Seattle I think. Absolutely splendid. Also some norwegian beer you guys haven't heard about :P (from Norway)
