    NZXT Phantom Question

I plan on purchasing the NZXT Phantom computer case relatively soon and had a question concerning the side fan and heatsink.

    Case: NZXT Phantom
    Heatsink: XIGMATEK Dark Knight
    Fan: XIGMATEK 200mm White LED

I was wondering if there would be enough clearance to install the optional fan with that heatsink? I've read mixed reviews and saw someone install the same 200mm fan with the Noctua NH-D14.

I'm left just guessing at this point.

I'm thinking no. That thing is only a few mm short of the NH-D14 and you can't fit a side fan on the round mesh with that heatsink. So I'm thinking that the answer to your question is no.

Actually, I have a 200mm fan and the NZXT phantom with a NH-D14. It fits, but only barely.

I would assume the XIGMATEK Dark Knight is taller then the Noctua NH-D14 from the dimensions listed on Newegg which would mean it wouldn't work; correct?

Height of the D14 is 160mm if I recall correctly and the height of the dark knight is 159mm.

So there you go 1mm difference.

I really hope so. Otherwise, I'd be disappointed and of wasted money.

I don't understand why having a side fan literally sitting on top of your heatsink is a good idea. Intake: you have to deal with the heatsink blocking a majority of the fresh air coming in, not to mention crossing the airflows from the fans on the heatsink and the case fan. Exhaust: you have to deal with your heatsink blocking a majority of what the fan is trying to pull out.

And I don't know about you guys, but having a stationary piece of equipment literally less than a cm away from a moving one - especially something as fragile as fan blades - does not seem like a good idea.
