    [Bio] Vianne Lioncrest

Comments, Critiques, and Concerns welcome! This is my first time posting this character to a RP forum. Hope she's ship shape.

    Name: Vianne Lioncrest
    Age: 127
    Race: Blood Elf
    Gender: Female
    Class: Paladin

Languages: Vianne is fluent in Thalassian and Common. She also has a practical level of proficiency in Orcish and a very basic grasp of Taurahe.

    Faction: The Crimson Lions

Appearance: The first thing most people notice about Vianne are her unnaturally green eyes. They are the sharpened eyes of a tactician, constantly appraising her surroundings and the people in it with practiced ease. When she moves, it is with a grace that is to be expected from one of her race, unencumbered by the arms and armor she carries. Her armor is the golden, robe-like raiment reminiscent of what Alliance war-priests wore to battle during the Second War, but accented with the Blood Knight black and crimson. Strapped to a leather holster on her back is a simple hand and a half sword with crimson etchings running along the center of the blade. She often carries her helmet under the crook of her arm, and allows her hood to rest under the nape of her slender neck. Her pale locks are bound up into a simple tail with a fine leather cord. A silver hair pin sits above her right brow and helps to keep her hair from falling over her face.

History: Vianne Lioncrest was born in Year 498 by the King's Calendar in Silvermoon. She was the only child of a relatively low ranking family of smiths under the patronage of the Silvermoon army. Her mother, an archeologist working with the precursor of the modern Reliquary, died when Vianne was barely twenty years old, which led to her spending much of her childhood under her father's care and apprenticeship. Despite her relations' attempts to school her in more feminine arts, she flourished under her father's tutelage, particularly in the martial arts due to her father's insistence that a true smith must understand and master his creations throughout its lifetime, rather than just during its construction.

With her family working so closely with Silvermoon's protectors, Vianne used to dream of being a Ranger, those graceful, skillful, and beautiful defenders of Quel-Thalas. Any free time allowed to her was spent honing her martial skills. When the invading Orcish Horde reached the borders of Quel'Thalas during the Second War, Vianne eagerly jumped at the chance to join the war-effort despite her father's protests. Unfortunately for her, she was not admitted due to her age and Silvermoon only committing the forces under Alleria Windrunner to the Grand Alliance.

Disheartened, Vianne continued to work at the forges of Silvermoon as the Second War came and went. Living off of heroic tales brought back by veterans her desire to become a Ranger gradually shifting towards the need to leave her perceived mundane life behind for one of adventure. Her chance would come almost a decade later when a delegation from the Knights of the Silver Hand visited Silvermoon in an effort to foster greater unity between the human and elven views of the Light. Recognizing them as the shining heroes from the stories about the Second War, Vianne approached them and demanded that take her in. While the paladins and accompanying priests recognized her determination and martial potential, they found her devotion to the Light noticeably lacking. Coupled with the fact that there had never been an elven paladin, led to the Knights to agree to her admittance into the ranks of their clergy, rather than the paladin order. This arrangement would last until a time in which her devotion to the Light can be determined to be exemplary to the paladin ideal. Put off by their attitude, but seeing this as her only chance, Vianne seized the opportunity and agreed. Her departure from Silvermoon was met with severe disapproval from her father and extended family. Harsh words were traded between father and daughter before she left her homeland without even a backwards glance.

She followed the Knights and priests to Lordaeron where she studied and trained for seven years. She was well-liked among her peers, if a bit aloof among humans due to the perceived age gap. The initial years of classes and lectures with the Church of the Holy Light bored her utterly, but she studied diligently, even fitting time to practice her martial skills in hopes of eventually being inducted into the Silver Hand. Her later tutorship in the Light was overseen by a handful of traveling clergymen, both human and elven, which was common at the time. But it was here that she truly began to grasp the concept of the Three Virtues. For a time, she contemplated the direction of her life and wondered if she should remain with the Church, which was perhaps the intent of the paladins all along. The coming of the Scourge and the undead plague however, made the choice for her.

Vianne was in Tyr's Hand aiding refugees from the massacre at Stratholme when Arthas returned to Lordaeron and brought the Scourge with him. With legions of undead besieging the fortified city, its ruler Lord Valdelmar sent out a call to arms and would not turn away any blade when Vianne answered. At once elated and dismayed with the circumstances that led to her finally taking up the sword, Vianne soon proved her skill in arms and command of the Light against the minions of the Scourge. Though battered, the garrison at Tyr's Hand never fell to the Scourge. As the fighting stretched into months Vianne rose through the ranks of the city guardsmen, her talents with the Light garnering the attention of Lord Valdelmar and the burgeoning Scarlet Crusade to whom Valdelmar had pledged his loyalty.

It was during this time when refugees from Quel'Thalas began trickling into Stratholme, bringing tales of the chaos and suffering brought on by Arthas' sacking of Silvermoon and the destruction of the Sunwell. Believing that her homeland shattered and its people utterly consumed by the undead, she came to realize how dear it had been in her heart, and how she had left it and her family in a youthful tantrum. As a result, she vented her pain and frustration on the Scourge with a vengeance that pleased the Crusaders. But as the Scarlet Crusade grew insular and xenophobic, Vianne followed those who broke away from the organization, disgusted by the Crusade's zealotry and corruption.

Her fellows left Tyr's Hand and along with others would soon form the basis of the Argent Dawn, and she would fight alongside them. All the while she suffered from the effects of withdrawal all surviving high elves faced with the loss of the Sunwell. But in nurturing the hope of resistance in Lordaeron with the Argent Dawn allowed her to retain her command of the Light, as had others of her kind who were not struck with total despair. With righteous fury in her heart and her stalwart comrades at her side, Vianne battled the Scourge in the Plaguelands for the next four years, lending aid to beleaguered survivors as they fled southward or fought to hold out. Eventually, rumors then confirmation surfaced that there were indeed survivors after the destruction of Silvermoon and the Sunwell, and that the elves were beginning to pick up the pieces of their civilization. Torn between her comrades and the needs of her people, Vianne ultimately choose to return to her homeland, making the long and hazardous trek northward through undead infested lands.

Arriving to discover her people sating their magical addiction on fel-energies, she was horrified when it was demanded that she too bear the scars of her people if she was to remain. In the end, she agreed, the act of consuming demonic magic allowing her to feel complete for the first time in many years. After that, due to her control of the Light, she was permitted to join the nascent Blood Knight order. As a Blood Knight, she aided in the retaking of the surrounding Eversong Woods and was part of the eventual campaign into the Ghostlands that led to the eradication of the last Scourge holdouts in the region, a then unknown requirement Silvermoon had to fulfill in order to join the Horde.

Entry into the ranks of the Horde opened the way for Silvermoon to reach Outland, and Vianne was assigned to escort a group of Blood Elf pilgrims as they made their way to reunite with their savior-Prince Kael'Thas. Together with a pair of Tauren druids, a Troll priestess, and a Forsaken soldier, Vianne successfully guarded her charges as they traversed the dangerous path to the city of Shattrath. There she learned of the fall to corruption of the man who had rescued her homeland. Like many of those before and after her, she resolved to aid the embattled Naaru and their allies in hopes of bringing Kael'Thas to justice. She would later join the ranks of the Scryers as they pushed into the Netherstorm and assaulted Tempest Keep itself, retaking it for the Naaru. Unfortunately, Kael'Thas managed to escape back to Azeroth during the confusion. Soon after, Lady Liadrin arrived revealing Kael'Thas' attack on Silvermoon and uncovering his true loyalties to the Kil'jaeden and the Burning Legion.

Reunited with the Blood Knights of Azeroth, Vianne joined the newly formed Shattered Sun Offensive and pursued Kael'Thas' forces to the Sunwell on the Isle of Quel'Danas. Participating in a daring raid into the Magister's Terrace while the bulk of the army assualted the Sunwell Plateau, Vianne saw the final demise of a once great man. With the re-ignition of the Sunwell as a font of Holy energies, and faced with the memories of slaying so many of her own people during the conflicts in Outland, led her to come to the conclusion that every elven life was immeasurably precious ,whether they be blood or high, which has tempered her decisions ever since.

In the short months of peace that followed, Vianne devoted her efforts towards restoring her people and nation until the day the Lich King reappeared and attacked the lands of the living once more. Answering Highlord Tirion Fordring's rallying call to members of the Argent Dawn, she took up the Argent Crusade banner and traveled to Northrend. Often reckless with her use of the Light, especially during her time with the Blood Knights, she learned restraint and patience under the leadership of Highlord Fordring, whom she would come to admire. Her months with the Crusade would be the most fulfilling ones of her life. The long winter campaign in Northrend would see many battles, and she would watch from afar as tensions between the Horde and the Alliance break out into open war. She would participate in the Battle of Icecrown Citadel, seizing and holding the lower spire as the Highlord and his champions confronted the Lich King at his Frozen Throne.

After the fall of the Lich King, Vianne was left with the painful choice of staying with the Argent Crusade, or returning to her people. In the end she choose the latter, personally handing her resignation to Highlord Fordring himself at Hearthglen. From there, she traveled back to Silvermoon where she was promoted to the rank of Knight-Lord for her role in the Northrend Campaign, and placed in command of the newly formed Crimson Lions.

As field commander of the Crimson Lions, Vianne participated in the Forsaken conquest of the Hillsbrad Foothills. She and her unit served with distinction at the Battles of Dun Garok, Southshore, and Hillsbrad Fields, but the Forsaken use of the Blight on the port town of Southshore forced her to quit the battle and withdraw her forces. As the Forsaken tighten their grip on the Foothills and the surrounding regions, it remains to be seen where the tides of war will take her.

As I said in your faction page, approved your post and fixed the coding for the bolded portions. Again, I'll take a gander when I am able, and welcome to the RP forums!

Well written for sure, the only thing I can pick out from a glance is her age - 75 would not make her an adult yet.

Hrm, I was under the impression that high elves hit adulthood at age 60, which was how it's written on wowpedia at least. I did notice the (or 110) bit on the chart though, but decided on the lower number to better fit the timeline. Is 110 the baseline age for adulthood here? If so I'll definitely do some editing.

We use 110 as the age for adulthood, yes.

We use the numbers in brackets for age here, so yeah we consider adulthood to be 110 years of age for quel'dorei and sin'dorei.

Understood. I'll see about making the proper edits once I get off work.

EDIT: Fixed the age issue. The math should still work.

Okay I've taken a look at this thing... VERY nice work. I take it you've already made her and fleshed her out pretty well for other RP shenanigans?

In her history's first paragraph, I'd just like to point out that the elves are much like the orcs in of the fact that both men and women are viewed equally, there are less gener boundaries, so a woman isn't necessarily expected to become a stay at home wife and wear pretty frilly dresses like what humans expect... Though that isn't to say you need to change the part, it's just something I thought I should mention.

In the third paragraph, you mention that there had never been an elven paladin before... As far as they go for the Silver Hand, again this is kind of a speculation thing of mine, but considering that the elves had priests of the Sunwell, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that they would have warriors of the Sunwell as well, IE: paladins of a sort. Again, it's just a technicality thing that stuck out to me :P

Other than those two VERY minor things, she seems pretty solid. Reminds me kinda of my own sin'dorei paladin, Archilios. At any rate, yeah.

Thanks for taking the time! She's actually a character that I don't rp with often, but wish I could. I have written a fair amount on her in the past though, hence her longish backstory.

To respond to your comments, I figured that quel'dorei/sin'dorei society would be more equal than humans, but I tend to believe that they still enjoy wearing pretty frilly dresses and being able to dance and what not, which was what I was going for with feminine arts. Not so much the homebody aspect, but I can see where the confusion comes from. I might edit that later on to be clearer.

As for the thing about there being no elf paladins, I got into the whole WoW rp with a group of real hardcore players. Where Sues and poking holes in perceived canon is often met with scorn and other unpleasantness so her character history reflected those restrictions. Not exactly a bad restriction by any means, but those were the circumstances.

    That said, thank you again for looking through. I worry since some of my backstories tend to be a little on the dry side. ^^;

Wellll it isn't perceived canon, it's solid speculation done using logic and based on known lore, but I understand. Never really any fun roleplaying with people who stick to the lore rigidly, imo. Less room for creativity. I prefer allowing speculation, as long as it's good speculation that makes sense :P

And no problem, it's my pleasure! I always do enjoy looking through bios but lately I haven't had much chance to do so.

I agree! Unfortunately that was the group I was saddled with, but I found it enjoyable while it lasted anyway. I just had to keep the speculation to myself, hence the reason why I began writing shortfics set in WoW in the first place.
