    Valid CPU-Z link:

Vcore is set to 1.41v in BIOS despite what the ss shows. I know its high but any less and it does not last more than 30 minutes of Prime95 :( Temps maxed between 66-73c not terrible imo (during most of stress test temps stayed sub 70c) but not great either. Most likely back it off to 4.4GHz if I can drop the Vcore by a significant amount if not then I'm just gonna let it fry and replace it or go to ivy later ^^

1.41v to stay stable 4.5ghz huh? Have you tried lowering the RAM to 1333mhz and playing with the LLC/overcurrent settings?

Man the variance of these chips is staggering. Overclocking is certainly darts on a dartboard.

1.41v for 4.5ghz, jikes, you got unlucky in the silicon lottery there :<

  4. #344
Which way do you have to tweak the PLL voltage to make the processor more stable at lower vCore voltage?

  5. #345
As far as I know, the cpu pll will only reduce temps slightly, not make it more stable.

Pretty sure sometimes it does in fact affect stability, as well. I'm not sure which way to tweak it though. =/

And welcome TaintedOne to the boards! Looks like you got shitty luck with the silicone lottery just like me! :P

Also btw, those temps =/= frying your CPU anytime soon. I'd sit on the Sandy until Haswell comes out and see how that is.

LLC is set to level 5 tried lowing it but bsod overcurrent protection is set to auto no guides i read mentioned messing with it so I didnt. This is my first time overclocking :P CPU PLL overvoltage is also enabled. Disabling PLL or setting it to auto also gets bsod ^^

ty for the welcome ^^ I was more speaking of the voltages frying it than the temps xD And yes terrible luck ! friends i7 2600k is @ 4.5GHz on 1.15v ! he uses my voltage settings for 4.9GHz benching lol

Just wondering if anyone can tell me the dangerous temps for a I5 3570k, I have it at 4.7 on air and it sits at around 76-81c during prime95. I want to know if I could push it just a bit more.

Be worried when you are more in the 90+ range.

This is just my personal scale, others are comfortable with higher temps, some prefer lower temps.

    50-70c - Great.
    75c - Acceptable.
    80c - Warm.
85c - Hot, but acceptable for stress tests.
90c - Very hot, not recommended.
    95c - Stop. Stop now.
100-110c - CPU will automatically shut down to avoid damage.

4.7 on air is impressive with only 81c peaks.

I think I'll see how much vcore my chip needs for 5ghz, turn H100 fans to max. It's going to take some tuning, the latest bios update added some new options (probably not relevant to OC'ing anyway).

    Anyone with a Phenom 2 9xxBE should be RE-checked.

These CPUs are NOT stable above 4.0Ghz. Anyone posting 4.0Ghz> should have the entire proof thing.

If they have above 4.0Ghz> they have ONE OF A KIND sick CPU ex.

As long as it was stable enough for the benchmark they're fine for the purpose of posting on these leaderboards anyways.

So far for me in my quest for 5ghz...

1.40v - no boot (I didn't really expect it to lol)
    1.42v - no boot
    1.45v - no boot
    1.46v - boot! Reached desktop > BSOD
1.465v - boot! Ran P95 for 5 mins, then BSOD. Getting there.
1.47v - boot! Currently running P95 for 30 mins, stable so far.

H100 max fans, 70c max temp.

While temps are nice and cool, the vcore is just fucking high. It's above Intel's max specification of 1.45v and I would never even dream of running it 24/7 lol.

I will do a final reboot @ 1.475v (just to make sure) and let P95 burn for 8 hours...I hope my PC is still alive!

I thought the intel max vCore in the spec sheet was 1.50V for the 2500K?

I've read 1.55V in some guides.

Issue is now that I can't get a stable stress test out of it, I'm using OCCT (would use prime 95 but 8 hours is a little to long for me) and it fails about 47 minutes in. I'm going to look into changing the voltage, was going to undervolt it but may not be a good idea now.

1.52v is what I have heard.

@OmegaV, if you are getting blue screens, they will give you a code. Write down the code and find out what it means when corresponding with your motherboard. Could mean you need MORE voltage.

Actually no blue screens, it apparently just had an error and ended the stress test.

Please do not use my thread as a means to express your sadness for lacking a 4GHz+ capable Phenom 2 9xxBE.
