Yeah I am talking about SMP with -advmethods it puts the cpu at 100%. I use GPU Tracker V2 it doesn't let me use -bigadv with my 2500k. I have tried overclocks that will run it for months with no problems but other things like prime95 and SWTOR will give BSOD.

you cant do bigadv with a 2500k anymore, there are a couple posts about it in our folding thread

prime95 is known to abuse CPU's, idk what STWOR's problem is

there are other stress stests out there, but you need to stop at a certain point and realize that not even a stock CPU is truly 100% stable

Yeah I understand. I'm just saying if I can fold for a month straight with no problems and then can't even play a game without BSOD then it is obviously not a proper "stress" test.

i've also seen 8 and 12 hour prime95 stable CPUs fail under Blender, 20 seconds into the render, there is no such thing as a "proper" stress test

Got my i7 2600k currently running at 4.3Ghz with stock voltages and timings. Validated by CPUID. Gonna run Prime95 and see what my temperatures are like cause it seems to be running pretty cool without a true load.

Edit: Prime95 is currently averaging 48-55 Celsius per core on Real Temp at this setting, should be fine enough for me for the time being.

48-55 Celsius for a 2600K at 4.3GHz full load is pretty good. ;p

Yeah, only core 3 was running up to 55 Celsius, the other 3 cores were running 48-52 on average.

Edit: But it crashed 45 minutes into a Prime95 on an 8 hour test. I need to research how to properly overclock because it's not stable without changing voltages.

I could probably get the voltage down another .01v or bump up the speed a little more but 4.6Ghz is more than enough considering I'm upgrading from an E2180 2.0Ghz dual core.

As for the stop/restarting at 4.5 hours in, my 4th core had a slight rounding error and as you know, Prime95 shuts down at any sign of small error. The computer was still stable, so I just restarted the test. I'll post build links in the megathread soon!

You will have to change the voltages. Even at stock speeds (3.7 Ghz) stock voltages aren't guaranteed to maintain a stable processor, especially under Prime95's excessive torture testing. Prime95 takes your processor to its absolute limits, to which it would never actually reach in typical every day usage. The reason why we do this is because if its stable in those conditions, its (usually) stable for any other use!

Tried 4.7GHz with up to 1.475v with IBT but Windows shut down every time; 4.8GHz @ 1.425v completed a few 5min Prime95 sample tests though.

I ran this a few days in a row. Each time I forgot to takes SS's before I closed everything down. Raid was more important apparently.
If you want me to run a Blend or something thats fine. I'll repost in a few days.
