Sandy bridge ftw, 1.3v 59c max temps : ) My 1.4v overclock never goes over 70c. Ive never tried anything over 1.4v but if the curve stayed true i could do 1.5 and stay around 80 or lower. (i also have cm hyper 212+)

As mentioned, it's a 212 EVO in pull only config. It's also in a Bitfenix Prodigy case with a giant GPU blocking most of the vents and very limited intake. Couldn't do a rear exhaust because of the location of the fan on the 212 EVO. It's an oven in there.

Pre-delid it would throttle at 4.1GHz, 1.15V. After the first de-lid I got it stable at 4.2GHz, now with the second (better) application of paste I'm getting these temps, which are a lot better than what I had, sadly.
Prodigy is not a hot box at all actually...as long as you didnt buy the white version (please dont tell me you bought the white version lol). Its fixable if you did, go buy a front mesh replacement panel (black, they have other colors as well) and this will fix all of your problems. While you are at it buy a 230mm bitfenix fan for an intake, with that fan i would say that is one of the best cases for airflow on the market, regardless of size.

Yeah, problem is it is the white one, with the solid front fascia. Only one in stock when I was doing my build and I'd decided on the case for various reasons. I'll look into the front mesh, probably help a lot.

I wouldn't push over 1.25 call it 1.3maaaax with an evo. Its a low end cpu cooler don't push it. 4670k aint a very good overclocker anyway, 4690k came up better obviously.

Ya dude your temps will go down enormously with a mesh front. The 230mm bitfenix fans are fairly quiet too, id go with the pro (its a bit louder but far more airflow and better built).

I think my case is just a bit too old, I can't find a non-red mesh anywhere. Or even a case that has the mesh. Or even a case for under $100.

I might just move it to a new case, or wait till my next build to really push it.

Might as well just get a silver one. I checked the Egg first, neither has the white in stock.

I'll stop distracting this thread now.

They never made a white mesh front, btw. Only black and then the various trim colors.

Gave the paste a bit more time to cure, dropped the volts a bit, got better temps. Ordered new panel and fan for the case, after which I'll go for a new high score.

hehe, sorry I made you guys wait a number of days!

And Nellah, maybe the print is too fine and small, but I do say, as people put in their CPUs, I'll add sections as needed! So awesome to finally have a G3258 up there! Still kind of want to get one myself, but I haven't a clue what I'd use it for...

Walthor, nice 11 hours and counting screenshot! Also, nice to see some people still trying to push some seriously old hardware! I actually have a friend's old Gateway FX system with AMD GPU and i7-920 on one of their shit Foxconn motherboards running my Minecraft server... wish I could overclock that chip though! Bet I could get some slight performance improvements out of it, but adding the SSD was certainly a good move.

Cheers guys, great additions! Keep it up! Enjoy!

I got a crap 3258, sadly. It won't stabilize at 4.5GHz even with voltages that would make a Sandy Bridge owner wince. Speaking of which, apparently not all my chips are crap because my old 2500K that's been in my closet for a year ran 3 hours of OCCT at 5000MHz before crashing, and that's with a $30 Xigmatek Gaia cooler. Just need to tighten up some voltages and I think it's good!

quick question before I look at trying to get on the AMD list.

if my OC fails during stress testing using AIDA and I am away from the PC, such as a lock up or Blue screen, will the CPU continue to run at the speed I have it set at and run the risk of damage ?

Unless AMD is bad at making CPUs, no. When a lock up or blue screen happens, the CPU usually drops down to 0% usage, or so. I'd try Googling, but you should be fine.

Bumping this because I'd love to see some Skylake chips on the board here. Winter is coming® in the Northern hemisphere, and overclocks should be at their highest!

Awesome great, adding you now! And congrats on first place based on voltage! Now if only there were more Devil's Canyon competitors!

Wow, just realized... coming up on 4 YEARS in about 2 weeks with this thread! I am happy to have called this thread my own. ^_^ Happy to continue updating it. COME ON SKYLAKERS!!!

I would give it a try on my i7 6700k but given that my PC does not want to restart for some reason I'm holding off till MSI hopefully get's a new bios out. Also the auto game overclock should give me 4.4 GHz but somehow it bumped me to 4.8 GHz which made my PC completely lock up, couple that with the fact that after saving something in my bios requires me to shut down the PC completely by holding the power button for 4 sec.

The only reason I stick to this bios version is that my RAM get recognized and used correctly which was not the case on the original bios. This is my first MSI mobo and so far I'm far from impressed although the PC runs fine for the rest.

Don't use the auto OC button. Neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

    Learn to tweak.

I'll search some guides when I get home from work if you need any help finding reliable sources. However I highly suggest the 'overclock'/overclockers websites. :P Should be self-explanatory lol
