Skyrim: joining stormcloaks if I started with the Legion

Hey guys, i just started skyrim, and i made the mistake of joining the wrong faction. i was thinking that the impierials were the good goods, but i found out otherwise. So i was just wondering if there is any way to join them even if i started with the other faction. i havent joined the legion yet, just helped the impierial guy at first. I think i know where to find the stormcloak guys that let me in, but im wondering if they will attack on sight. anyways, thanks to everyone who responds.
