GOTY: Skyrim vs. Arkham City

This is a pretty biased poll and should be changed or closed, Not only is Batman getting beaten in sales by BF3 but they both were destroyed by MW3 wich sold 6.5 million on day one beating the top 5 best selling games last month together. There may be alot of hate for MW3 but there is also alot of love.

Skyrim looks a little boring imo, was never a fan of that series. Batman and the whole genre of that has always fascinated me. Arkham City looks like a fantastic game. This is obviously just my opinions, but thats what you were asking for.

I am currently really enjoying skyrim. I didn't play arkham because I don't care for its type of game, and I'm currently waiting for skyward sword to blow me away.

Depends on how they judge. I like MW3 as much as the next guy.. but you can't tell me that the story and all around quality is comparable to Arkham city.

Of the choices I would say Skyrim. Although I wouldn't push away MW3 either, the mass appeal of that game is not to be taken lightly.

Well call of duty is one of the most popular current Frachise and has a Huge community due to the Multiplayer fun so it has to get some love but sales don't determine if something is good or not and let's face it MW3 and BF3 aint going to be GOTY.

It's not just IGN, check meta critic, its getting as high as skyrim.

At the moment, it's Skyrim at 96, Skyward at 95. Clearly, Skyrim wins. /sarcasm. Also, I don't really think that scores from other people should determine this. I really, REALLY enjoyed Catherine. It got an 80 on Meta, 7/10 from Game Informer, etc. Following that logic, it would be average/slightly above average. I don't think that's the case.

Again, I'm not bashing it. Just saying we should probably wait until we play it before dubbing it the best. Either way, not here to argue against you, consider it's OPINION, and I likely won't be able to change that.

Game sales does not say anything about what game should get GOTY, that´s just like saying the Transformer movies should get movie of the year because they make shit load of money from them and are popular.
CoD and Bf3 don´t even come close to Zelda or Skyrim in quality and content.

Popular = GOTY? hell no.
Quality and depth = GOTY? yes.

IMO Fps games should almost NEVER get GOTY and I´m a HUGE fps player, I am mainly a Fps gamer and I can admit that Mw3 and Bf3 don´t stand a chance against Zelda, Skyrim and Arkham city.
Hell I forgot The Witcher 2 and Uncarted 3 (tho I have never played the uncharted games.)

I haven't played either, but Skyrim does not look fun at all to me. So the other one gets my vote by default if I had to pick between those two. My personal choice would be SWTOR. SWTOR is one of the best single player RPGs I have ever played, and its an MMO!

Skyrim does not look fun at all? Mate I am a SWTOR beta player and Skyrim is literally 4 times better and more fun.

I even missed (this) weekend TOR test gametime for Skyrim. It is a GOTY worthy.

For me I won myself over skyrim becauze Bethesa FINALLY did the right thing with the Movement animations when you move sideways. I can call Skyrim to be a perfect RPG game.

But it is your opinion and mine, I'd try Skyrim first before judging Skyrim and TOR.

Game of the Year from who? There's what, a dozen or so different groups that hand out games of the year.

Regardless, I've never been one for it, as it's a meaningless title in the end. Often times it's a genre I don't like, or it's on a platform I don't own.

I also doubt it's gonna be skyrim or batman, though the last batman game was amazing...

so far what i have seen of skyrim has left me unimpressed and batman looks interesting but not my kind of game so I would go with none of them. Besides aren't a million game of the years handed out by a million different groups. kind of makes a title pointless.

Yes!!!! Dark Souls is the greatest for the hardcore crowd, though it wouldn't hold up in a Goty debate because it simply makes casual gamers cry tears of blood, then feasts upon them.
