<Academy> A new type of Guild, dedicated PvE training. Recruting Teaching Staff.

<Academy> is a new type of Warcraft Guild on Horde/Stormrage EU formed to teach and advance players in PvE in a structured environment.

Spend any amount of time reading these forums and it's pretty clear that there is much complaint and impatience about the current player ability level in WoW.

I have mentioned previously on MMO Champ that perhaps it was time for the community itself to address this issue and attempt to do something about it.

The formation of <Academy> is me putting my money where my mouth is and stepping up to do just that. For this project to succeed I will need the assistance and commitment of many others who are willing to give up some game time to share their knowledge and skills as Class Leaders, Mentors or Guest specialists through the Academy system. We need to get our Teaching Staff in place before we open recruitment for members.

How is this different from a casual raid guild?
    • Applicants will be screened for membership, they will need to demonstrate a genuine desire to learn and improve their PvE skills. This is a type of vocational learning system, much like a university or college...you are choosing to join to be educated not carried.
    • Academy will have a dedicated stance to improve members skills and knowledge in PvE and an Officer/Class Leader/Mentor and lecturer structure to deliver it.
    • Having a structured timetable and courses which members can choose to participate in and gain skills and knowledge.
    • The guild will have a ranking system which reflects players progression in ability from beginner to finally gaining a post graduate rank and 'passing' out as a qualified raider.
    • The guild offers free membership. Some guild services: one to one tuition, specific lectures, other training programs such as raiding tution etc will require the contribution of weekly subs to the guild bank, all of these services are optional. For example the beginner raider rank will require 200g a week subs, not an excessive amount.

    How can you help?
If you are interested in offering your time to pass on knowledge as a teacher in Academy we would love to hear from you.
You can find us at academy.guildlaunch. com

    • The time commitment does not have to be large.
    • Choosing to help people rather than just standing bored in Org or Stormrage can be very rewarding.
    • We have several ranks in guild for people who can give more or less time to passing on game skills, from house masters (officers), class masters, Guest lecturers for specific tutorials and post graduates and also people willing to help compose and write forum guides and assist with guild admin.
    • Even giving a few mins a day and answering common game questions in guild chat is very helpful.
    • Obviously you will bring the most utility by joining with a max level character, although this does not have to be your main. If you are applying as a class master it will however need to be the class you are offering to specialise in before you can take up that post, but this can still be an alt of course.
    • We welcome teaching post applications from both Horde and Alliance players, but you will need to have a max level character on horde: Stormrage who is current raid capable before you can take up that role.
    • People rolling new chars on stormrage to offer services will of course be welcome to join and level within the guild.
    • Other players who just wish to offer their spare time and general game knowledge are also welcome.
    • Please make it clear in your application post what you are offering, please include your current Main, guild and server etc.
    • Teaching post applications will require an in game or on voice comms interview as the final part of the application process.
    • Class Leader applicants will need to demonstrate an exceptional knowledge of their chosen class up to and including raid skills.
    • We will be recruiting a large teaching staff, to ensure that we cover all areas of WoW but also to ensure that one individuals time commitment is never excessive.

I myself am a long time WoW player, I'm currently GM of a successful 10 man raid guild <Unqualified> and have run a large casual raid guild in the past.

I believe that you can build a great guild atmosphere, that you can teach people to be better players if they want to learn and that helping people can be it's own reward and still achieve success in raiding or any other sphere of the game.

I don't underestimate how much work this will be and am dead set on making sure we spread the workload by recruiting the right people to manage and run Academy as well as being selective when it comes to granting memberships to those who really want to improve their skills.

If we can improve our playerbase, then we can all benefit in the long run. Telling people to look up EJ while running a 5 man pug isn't going to be a solution, I think this really can be and I hope some brave souls will step up to help me. If we can create a successful model for a teaching guild this can then be rolled out to other servers.

    Thanks for reading.

I realised I hadn't made it completely clear that this is something people can get involved with without needing to add their Main to academy's roster, and alt and some spare time is what we're asking for at this stage.

Of course if people can offer their full commitment to making the guild a success that would be fantastic
