Meh (not the linked run, that was crazy). At least it's not Northwestern State Technical Greendale University-ish, but Tennessee hasn't been relevant in a pretty long time.

Alabama has Virginia Tech to open, which is kind of a step down from their recent out-of-conference teams. Wow, Florida is actually playing Miami. Miami hasn't been much lately, but Florida hasn't played a decent out-of-conference game in a long time to my memory.
Wow,. TAMU has an easy ass schedule next year. At home against Bama and at LSU, is the only games that they should bother with. At Ole Miss and at Arkansas might be trap games, depending on how much those teams improve, but damn. expect them to end up with one loss next year and possibly playing for a title.

Georgia plays at Clemson Week 2. Talk about a big out-of-conference game. Other than that though, all big games are at home, minus the usual rivalry cocktail party against Florida.

Holy crap... eight home games including four non-conference cupcakes just waiting to be devoured. I bet Aggie boards are brimming with anticipation.

Nebraska was one of the original offenders when it came to listing future conference championship games on their schedules, though they stopped doing it a while back. Damn that's always irritated me. It's already tacky enough that the Michigan football website has adopted the practice (and considering we haven't won a conference title outright since 2003, it looks extra stupid). Guess who else has the CCG listed on their 2013-2014 schedule? Penn State. Wile E. Coyote, super genius.

That's... really worthy of an investigation.

Well, I was using this site: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/2013...-schedules.php

Easy access, all there, so I don't know which teams are being cocky.

Aww. Seeing who's being cocky is half the fun!

OOC schedules seem to deteriorate even more for 2013. Ugh.

I missed this the other day.

    Original caption: casino ballin'.

And a follow-up tweet: Nothing illegal about being 18+ in a casino and winning money...KEEP HATING!

Hoo boy. I think this is why the Heisman Trust is a bit leery of handing out hardware to freshmen.

I'm not sure what this has to do with him winning the Heisman. Like he said, he isn't doing anything illegal.

It's not illegal. It is, however, a display of poor judgement, and a good way to draw unwanted attention from the NCAA. Someone needs to have a talk with the kid before he gets himself in trouble.

Eddie Lacy declared for the draft. I'm just not so sure he's going to be as effective as people might think. One things people forget is in the past few years, Alabama has had one of the best offensive lines in the country. See what Mark Ingram is doing in New Orleans right now as a former Heisman winner.

Manziel's family is rich. Like really, really rich. If there is a player in college football you have to absolutely worry zero percent about taking cash, cars, hookers (Go Miami!), etc. in exchange for going to TAMU or for performing on the field, its Johnny Football. Rich kids take stupid pictures of themselves holding stacks of daddy's cash and poor kids take stupid pictures of themselves holding daddy's guns. Stupid is as stupid does.

It's not a matter of him being on the take, though, and it was never my intent to paint it that way.

Knowing that the NCAA frowns upon all forms of gambling, and that they're flexing their muscle as much as ever, it's just a dumb idea to broadcast your immature behavior to the world when you're so prominently in the national spotlight. I remember a well-to-do Eric Crouch getting hounded (and suspended) over a plane ride and a ham sandwich, which in total came to something like $20.

I wasn't saying the SEC isn't dominant. I was replying to the idiotic post that only SEC teams should be considered for the NC game. His reasoning was since the SEC had 5 teams in the top 10, that means only their teams should be considered for the NC game. I then pointed out that two of those teams lost, and another was given a run for its money. Not trying to say the SEC isn't a powerhouse, but his reasoning was just plain absurd.

Big Ten to reconsider division names

Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said his league will consider replacing the Legends and Leaders division names in 2014.

A decision could be made by June.

When deciding on division names in December 2010, Delany said the Big Ten "didn't have great options."

"We weren't going to go with 'Bo or Woody,' 'Black or Blue,' or 'Plains or Lakes,' " Delany said. "Obviously we got some acceptance [with Legends and Leaders], but not as much as we would have liked."

As a conference, we've gotten really good at making things a lot fucking harder than they need to be.
What was so wrong with "East" and "West" anyway?

I have no problem with this configuration:

Oh, but that'd be too easy. Which is why the Eye of Sauron™ layout is apparently still under consideration too.

Fast-forward to June: "The Big Ten Conference is pleased to announce the new & improved Iris and Sclera divisions."

    Sigh.

Ya I laughed my ass off at the Eye of Sauron bit. /applaud. My "Top 100 people I'd like to club in the head like a baby seal" list definitely includes Delaney. Although, my heart would be just broken if Michigan and MSU's football division included Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, and Northwestern. There would be literally two tough conference games per year. Basketball though, fucking YEESH. Minnesota would just devour their division and the Iris division would be just an absolute bloodbath.

Yeah, that would suck no matter how they tweak or rotate cross-division scheduling.

I thought they never had any intent of applying the division format to basketball though. Even the SEC ditched theirs.
