I don't know much about this "loli" stuff myself, first time I encountered the term was reading here
But your right about not being able t have a serious debate about it, because feelings run so high into the stratosphere, its impossible to think rationally, and I think the law reflects this. Better to have a coverall law against all forms of it, and then treating cases indivually, than leaving a proverbial loophole for people to exploit (which they will otherwise).

I do think we need a LOT more research tbh, but we have done a lot since the 1980s, and still no closer to understand the causes or reason why, and we probably never will.

Also, when I say about "controlling" this, I don't mean "lock up and throw away the key" type scenarios unless a crime has been committed. I mean identifying people who may have this inclination, and giving them support or such to control their impulses. We can argue until the cows come home about whether this is morally right or not, but this isn't like other forms of sexuality, but can harm children, so needs to be observed and monitored heavily.

It is true. Those *rape* videos, are usually just fake and entirely consensual between adults legally capable of making that decision. Its mainly just acting as such.

However, a genuine video of a crime taking part is illegal to watch or hold, even if you never watch it. During Operation Ore, there were quite a few people who downloaded things, never watched them, and thought they had done nothing wrong, then were quite surprised when they were being bought up on Child Abuse charges. Obviously there are differing levels of how much the Police will get involved, they have limited resources after all, but technically, the Vice Squad would be knocking on your door if they ever found things like this.

In the US there is such a loophole its called child erotica basically all anime/drawn CP falls under this and is not illegal just morally wrong. Even as far as children of any age under 18 laying there spread eagle with underwear and a t-shirt on is Child erotica simply because by federal law it stats that the child has to be nude and or involved in "any visual depiction of "sexually explicit conduct" involving children". Now im not sure of the laws in other countries but as far as the drawn stuff is concerned its not illegal just morally wrong.

But i agree this man should be locked up but whilst locked up he should undergo extensive psycological evaluation and counseling because you never know he coulda been a victim when he was a boy which triggered his urges to view such things.
Besides they will never be able to stop Child porn people will still harm children then those children when they are older will be far more likely to do the same simple psychology sad really

I don't get it, Pedophilia is supposedly a mental disorder. that makes grown adults sexually attracted to children.

#1 Mental disorders should be treated and seeing as how this man never actually abused a child in any way he should be given the mental help needed instead of being treated like a criminal.

Hell from my point of view Pedophilia is no different from homosexuality from a mental perspective you cannot choose what your attracted to but you can choose to deny yourself that pleasure.

Personally I don't think it should be illegal to view child porn . (it should be illegal to buy it.)
It should however still remain illegal to produce it and to physically engage in sexual activity with a minor.

Of course I also believe once your old enough to bleed that your old enough to breed simply so people with stop believing that mental maturity is gained naturally with age considering if that is the case, everyone under the age of 30 should be punished for sexual acts because most of them are less mentally mature than your average 16yo was 40 years ago.

So even though I think the guy in the story is one sick twisted individual for liking child pornography the truth of the matter is that he is no worse than someone who gets off looking at same gender or bestiality related porn other than the fact we made a law that says otherwise.
