    Warlord Zon'ozz Strategy, Loot, Discussions

    Warlord Zon'ozz

Countless ages ago, Warlord Zon'ozz and his soldiers waged endless war against the forces of C'Thun and Yogg-Saron. Millennia have passed, but the warlord still serves the chaotic might of the Old God N'Zoth. Deathwing has now unleashed this legendary faceless one to crush the defenders of Wyrmrest Temple.

    Psychic Drain
Warlord Zon'ozz channels a wave of psychic force in a 30 degree cone in front of the himself, inflicting 180000 Shadow damage and leeching life for ten times the amount of damage dealt.

    Disrupting Shadows
Warlord Zon'ozz covers random players with Disrupting Shadows. The effect inficts 45512 Shadow damage every 2 seconds. The shadows also deal 69100 Shadow Damage and knockback the targeted player if the effect is dispelled. In Heroic Difficulty the effect deals 69100 Shadow damage and knocks back all players within 10 yards.

    Void of the Unmaking
Warlord Zon'ozz summons a Void of the Unmaking. This void travels forward until it encounters a soul to absorb.

    • Void Diffusion - When the Void collides with a player it diffuses, inflicting 807300 Shadow damage split evenly between nearby players. The force of this diffusion causes the void to richocet in the opposite direction, and the absorbed souls increases the damage the Void inflicts by 20% per diffusion.
    • Black Blood Eruption - If the Void of Unmaking reaches the outer edges of the Maw of Go'rath, it will spark a violent reaction. The eruption does 120000 Shadow damage to all targets within the maw, knocking them into the air.
    • Zon'ozz Diffused - When the Void collides with Warlord Zon'ozz, it inflicts a distracting shock to him. The Void Diffusion increases the damage Zon'ozz takes by 5% for every time the Void of the Unmaking bounces between players. This collision enrages Warlord Zon'ozz, causing him to awaken the Maw of Go'rath and lose his Focused Anger. In Heroic Difficulty the awakening of the Maw of Go'rath causes many different types of tentacles to emerge and attack the players.
      • Black Blood of Go'rath - Warlord Zon'ozz inflicts 17349 Shadow damage every 1 sec. to all players for 30 sec. In Heroic Difficulty each tentacle of Go'rath inflicts 3220 Shadow damage every 2 sec. to all nearby enemies. The damage is multiplied by the number of tentacles alive.
      • Claw of Go'rath
        • Ooze Spit - When not tanked the Claw of Go'rath spits ooze at a random player, inflicting 100000 Shadow damage to the target and any allies within 4 yards.
      • Eye of Go'rath
        • Shadow Gaze - The Eye of Go'rath casts its Shadowy Gaze at a random player, inflicting 22500 Shadow damage.
      • Flail of Go'rath
        • Wild Flail - The Flail of Go'rath whips about wildly, inflicting 20000 Physical damage and knocking back nearby units within 15 yards.
        • Sludge Spew - The Flail of Go'rath spews sludge at a random player, inflicting 85000 Shadow damage.

I honestly do not see this working out for LFR. Tanks will fail on facing the Psychic Drain away from the raid, melee will be too busy topping the meters to notice the ball that they need to bounce back and ranged dps does not want to cancel his cast and fails too.

It's going to be quite the challenge, even more in LFR than normal I assume.

Killed the encounter several times on LFR on the ptr, it's honnestly not too bad. The void seems to be very lenient damadge wise in the way that a few people can bounce it, you don't need the entire raid organized to do it. On LFR the only hard part of the fight is the phase after the void hits the boss, the aoe damadge there can actually wipe a raid with bad healers.

    For the psychic drain..

Would it be benefitial to use Ms effects?

And for unholy death knights would it be better to use necrotic strike instead of scourge strike?

I actually killed this boss in the FailFinder. All it takes is a raid leader who knows how to explain things, and 24 people who know how to listen.

I think It's highly unlikely that 24 people in a LFR will even read what the raid leader is writing.

They will listen, otherwise they will end up wiping and giving them self repair cost.

I know this because I have cleared 8/8 on with the raid finder many times.

The downside is LFR ptr players = 359 -391 pve gear >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Live LFR players = 365 - ???? pve / pvp people.

seems like a fun fight and after a few weeks everyone in raidfinder knows what to do (well most will) and then it should be less of a problem

this fight is completely different in LFR than it is in normal or heroic. the Void moves at a snail's pace and its damage output is significantly reduced. the Disrupting Shadows debuff also does extremely minimal damage. overall, the healing required in the non black AoE phases is very lenient. and on top of it all, the Void automatically "hits" the boss after 10 bounces, forcing a black phase and the damage taken debuff on Zon'ozz.

HC25 is a pain when he goes into p2, I can only think 10man have less adds, if they get the same amount of adds to kill then dam, Good luck in 10man >.<

LFR is a joke now after the last update. As of now the orb spawns and basically moves around in a circle in a spot. Players just need yo stack on it for a short time to increase its stacks then move out. After awhile the orb actually merges with the boss on its own.

When Zon'ozz screams stuff, does it whisper a translation to you? Like the boss in Ahn'Kahet?

    Yes he does.

    He sounds quite poetic, too!

Yes I did, and many thanks. Some pretty f'd up stuff they say, too.

Once more shall the twisted flesh-banners of N'Zoth chitter and howl above the fly-blown corpse of this world. After millennia, we have returned.
If anyone's got more screens/quotes/text strings, please post. I wanna see everything these guys have to say. These are the first in-game mentions of N'Zoth - no telling what they might hint at for the future.

edit - Oooh, they're all on wowpedia. Nevermind!

Cept that on LFR difficulty, a single person can do the bouncing since it's a fixed amount of damage that is survivable and for all we know it might not be required to bounce it all that much in order to meet whatever enrage/dps requirements.

Seal of the Seven Signs is incorrectly labeled as Spell DPS, where it is clearly a healing trinket.

    This is definitely true.

As a 2nd tank (didn't get to switch specs in time), I just stood inside the Orb and bounced it to myself. It would bounce, become immune for 3 seconds, then become active, and I would hit it again. It goes slow enough where you can just run with it, and basically just hit it the instant it's active. I took ~35k dmg per hit, and got it to 10 stacks every time with 0 issues. After 10 it automatically shoots to the boss and you get %50 increased damage for the Shadow phase.

    Cake!

Regarding normal mode: How are people dealing with this Focused Anger stacking buff? By the time we're bouncing the ball for the 2nd time, he'll be at 6-7 stacks by the time the ball even appears, is this normal? We did 5 bounces the first time, and then decided on 3 the rest, since our tank was having a tough time not dying due to the huge increase in damage and attack speed :\

We did 5 bounces the first time he spawns the orb and 3 bounces each time afterwards. your tank might be taking void diffusion hits, after the 1st orb you can't really afford your tank to take any additional damage since the boss starts hitting really hard. tank shouldn't be dying to melee damage prior to the orb spawn, then there must be something your healers are doing wrong (or they're oom, we're popping hymn/mana tide/etc. as often as we can afford.) the spike damage comes if your tank gets psychic drain + melee + void diffusion in quick succession, which would be a positioning issue.

  19. #19
We ran the stacks up to 10 at first but the stacks (edit: of focused anger) and aoe damage from Void Diffusion was too much. We switched to 5 bounces which is still causing lots of extra tank damage. The way we are bouncing it is the range/heals to the melee/tank. At the moment we only have 2 melee and 1 tank. So the damage to the tank, like sleepingforest said, should be avoided as best as possible.

We ended up sending a healer to stand with melee to absorb more of the diffusion. It seems to be working better, only serious issue is the melee not moving to let the ball hit the boss. Also in order to keep the stacks of Focused Anger tolerable the bounces shouldn't be lower than 5 when they hit the boss. Otherwise it could take ~35 seconds to get a new ball out after the 2nd phase. Hope this helps, good luck!

This makes so much more sense. I didn't realize that his ball was on a global timer and not just scripted at X seconds after Phase 2 ends. Makes so much more sense.
