A mmo would just ruin the story and become one of those franchises that keep trying to drain money of it

If it was done right, I wouldn't mind. The problem with these things is that they are very rarely done right. So I hope they don't try.

A Harry Potter MMO would have to be something very different to what we currently understand of an MMO. Essentially, the vast majority of wizards and witches in HP are just regular folk. They go to school, then get a job. Most don't get into a battle against Voldemort and the Death Eaters: an HP MMO wouldn't be the formulaic 'Go there, pick up 10 of x, then go here, kill 5 of y' type of questing.
I suppose an HP MMO would be about life at Hogwarts. Learning magic, doing some exploration, and being social. It can't really lend itself to a very deep MMO: it'd be more like Second Life, I'd assume. A platform for social interaction.
It's possibly doable. But it'd be nothing like SWTOR, WoW, LotR, or any other 'traditional' MMOs.
