    What's illegal to film?

So what stuff is there that is considered illegal to film? I know child pornography, obviously, but are fights (not boxing) illegal to film? What about people without their permission? When is that legal/illegal (obviously it happens a lot, store security cameras and all).

Sorry for not originally including this, I mean in the US.

I think there's probably a whole lot of case law on the intricacies of this. I remember a case i saw online where a landlord was taping a tenant in their bathroom without their knowledge. According to the report, he couldn't be charged because he didn't record sound with the video, and that's the only way it can fall under wiretapping laws.

I would assume taping a spontaneous fight would be fine, but setting up illegal fights to be filmed to turn a profit by selling tapes would not be.

You cannot film amateur sex (that is, you cannot pick up a woman, bring her back to your house, and secretly film you two doing the beast with two backs) without her knowing or consent or else you can get prosecuted. IIRC.
"Why of course the people don't want war…. But, after all… it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Anything you do in public--or in any place without a reasonable expectation of privacy--is fair game to be filmed, at least in the US.

As far as the fights go, I think that's even fair game. If two consenting adults want to beat the crap out of each other I believe that's their business. It's a gray area, to be certain, but I really doubt any legal trouble would fall into the hands of the cameraman, if the authorities were to get involved.

Knew this as well. Pretty much I'm more asking about what isn't commonly known or is contrary to what you would normally think.

As much as cops might like it to be true, the appeals courts disagree: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/201...endments.shtml

    That's silly.

You cant take pictures at pools or in general play areas over here of your kids. Might seem a bit silly, but obviously theres some fucked up people going to pools and what not and taking pictures of kids who aren't theirs, so it makes sense I guess.

Not that police would run in and beat you or anything. If you were there with your wife or whatever and it's obvious it's your kid the guys just come over and let you know that you cant do it and that you should put it away.

As for fights, street fights, its all fair game and can be helpful to police to tracking down the guys doing it. MMA or boxing or whatever, you'd have to talk to the guys in charge, some people won't have it.
Cho’Gall: Cairne Bloodhoof is dead? Did we kill him?
Deathwing: No. The Grimtotems weakened him with poison, and then Garrosh accidentally hacked him to death with an axe during a heated political discussion.

I know that if you work in Health (Paramedic, EMT, Nurse, etc...) You cannot record your patients, let alone talk about your patients to anyone else besides people working with the patient or if you have to testify it in a court of law (The Paramedic in the Michael Jackson testimony). This is call HIPAA otherwise know as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Almost everything without permission in private property. It's illegal to film or take pictures inside a mall without mall management approval. Well, its not illegal but if it's against their policy then they can tell you to leave. If they tell you to leave and you don't, it's trespassing.

Dog and Chicken fights, animal cruelty in general will generally land you swiftly in jail. Typically anything you do that is illegal and you film it can be used as evidence against you. When you are videotaping you should probably just pretend your mother is watching you and keep it PG-13.

This indeed. I've seen a post on mmo-champion ( i cant remember the name ) where someone was just recording a police officer , and that person could get a harder "punishment" ( dunno how to call that ) that was even more worse than for someone who raped another person.

soz for typos , not sure how to bring this

I have always wondered, I know prostitution is illegal, but home made pronography is not. Is it illegal to pick up a hooker but pay for her acting as opposed to the sex? Not sure if there is some law to stop this loop hole.
