Tier 13 Sets - Death Knight

Tier 13 Items are purchased with tokens dropped in the Dragon Soul Raid. Each difficulty (Normal, Heroic, Looking for Raid) has its own set and the ilvl are as follows:

• Looking for Raid difficulty will reward players with tokens to buy ilvl 384 pieces of armor.
• Normal difficulty will reward players with tokens to buy ilvl 397 pieces of armor.
• Heroic difficulty will reward players with tokens to buy ilvl 410 pieces of armor.

So relieved to see that all the Haste they added to our tier is most likely going to stick.

Well, reforging for T13 seems simple enough for Blood:
Off of Expertise and into Dodge on the shoulders,
Off of Parry and into Mastery on the face,
Off of Parry and into Dodge on the legs,
Off of Hit and onto Dodge on the hands, and
Off of Dodge and onto Parry if your Dodge rating is too high whilst raidbuffed (unlikely).

Gems will probably still remain Fractured in yellow, Fine in red and Puissant in blue, matching for every bonus except possibly the blue socket in the helm depending on your parry levels.

zero 397 mastery tanking helms the VP vendor one is Parry / Expertise, and there's literally no non-set tank helm drops lol (which i thought was weird)


Just Noticed... that helm has 411 parry rating, no other piece has more than 320 of a single rating... thats... pretty crazy lol (164 mastery from reforge isnt too shabby lol)

That would be the case if using Normal gear, with the Vendor gloves being the offset. But on Heroic we will be using offset Shoulders.

I'm pretty unhappy with the blood. Hit/expertise/mastery with only one dodge/parry item outta the bunch. As avoidance, I work by stacking the max avoidance that I can with as little mastery as I can...which means I probably won't go for more than the 2p

It feels like a balancing thing Darsithis. They want to force us to take non-defensive stats (even though DS will always heal and RS ignores Dodge and Parry), and I hope it's because they're using us as test dummies for 5.0 with respect to Hit and Expertise as more useful tanking stats.

I was avoidance, but even without the boost from 4.3's "fix" I swapped to mastery a few weeks back and absolutely love it.

I dunno, still looks rather generic/formula to me. Skulls & bones, spikes/horns, "cold flames", and a dark color scheme- same as almost every other DK set ever with all of... maybe 2 exceptions. :P

What do you expect? Yellow/pink set with flowers and fluffy things? Hell no... its a Death Knight after all. Death = dark/black

I don't want to go mastery. I would like to stay avoidance. What makes this set even worse for an avoidance DK is almost every single gem bonus is mastery.

I can see myself losing health and gaining a boatload of mastery while dropping, actually dropping, in avoidance. I might have no choice but to be pigeonholed into being a mastery DK. That takes away the very choice that T12 gave us. I have no supporting mastery trinkets (only avoidance), which leaves me in a really rough spot when it comes to gear this tier.

In fact, after looking deeply at all of the raid gear that drops along with valor - I'm going to just roll on non-set pieces in our 25 mans, and ignore any tier gear tokens. None of it is worth anything for an avoidance DK. The 2p is meh and the 4pm "raid cooldown", while sounding useful, is just as meh for me.

Hardly. Going from BiS T12 to normal BiS T13 is only a lost of about 150 Haste. That's with 2 Souldrinkers that have no secondary stats and with two trinkets that don't have Haste... BTW, this is before reforging, so it may be more/less, however unlikely less with such high gear ilvl.
In T13 BiS you can expect more Haste than in T12 BiS.
