So if you're capped on VP and you finish a 5 man you get JP instead, nothing new.
However, this reward has been changed from the 150 (was 140 for za/zg before 4.3) it was on patch day to 70 now, has there been any word as to why they changed this with a hotfix?
I really, really, hope this is just a mistake.

With the relative ease of attaining i378 gear, is it really that much of a concern?

Sometimes I prefer farming JP and converting it to honor instead of doing BGs. So yes, it's a big deal.
Also, quite a lot of the JP gear is better than the new 5man drops.
