MMO-Champ loading multiple times in browser.

I use Firefox. I have checked this at both home and at work. When I go to some of the pages here, including the front page, the page loads 5-10 times in my browser. If I right click on the back button I will see those 5-10 page loads. This doesn't happen with any other website that I know of.

I hope this is the right place to post this.

This is something new that I get in Chrome too.

It's been fine for years but just recently it seems have started auto-reloading itself, even on forums pages.

Is this intentional? Is it related to ads?

Whatever it is, it's a pain as you can end up with dozens of history items to work back through just to get back to actual previous page.

I've had this problem also in Chrome on MMO-Champion for several weeks now. It happens both on my computer at home and my computer at work.

Do you guys have adblock installed? Might be a rogue ad.

It's doing the same thing in IE9. It happens mostly when you try to close the browser with the mmo-champ page open. I get a message that there was a problem with the page and it had to be reloaded. It just keeps doing it in an endless loop until you can somehow get to a different site.

Reloading usually doesn't re-add the page in your history items list. My guess is that an ad is doing it. I suggest getting an extension to block ads.

    Firefox (AdBlock Plus) : https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefo.../adblock-plus/
    Chrome (AdBlock Plus) : http://adblockplus.org/en/chrome
    IE (Simple Adblock) : http://simple-adblock.com/

Edit : Forgot to mention that I use AdBlock Plus on Firefox and it never happened to me.

Ads are being blocked by the PrivacyChoice tracking protection list in IE9 so I doubt that an ad is the problem. There is something wrong with the site that has only existed for the last few days. It always happens on one of the forum pages and just keeps opening new tabs over and over.

I'm having the same issue. It's a pain in the neck when you have more than 3 tabs open in mmo-champ and they are constantly reloading the same thing when I want to go back a few pages and having to go through several dozen 'reloads'.

Hell just reading this thread it's 'reloaded' the page 11 times.

Can this be fixed please or is it just money grubbing via ad views?

Ads are good; they keep your favorite sites running

Intrusive ads are bad, and should be reported here.

I've reported this problem up to the devs; we'll get it fixed asap.

Thanks for the reports and your patience.

I use AdBlock and other such protections, and MMO-Champ is still reloading itself constantly.

This is pissing me off. Android, chrome and fire fox are doing it. Having the address bar pop up when I'm trying to input text on my phone is seriously driving me mad. Having to hit the back button ten times to go back a page.....

so from what I'm hearing I ned to run firefox and ad blocker with no script....

I normally don't mind ads because as was mentioned they keep our favorite sites funded. But this is just plain stupid, I had hoped it would just go away. But its been happening for a number of days already.

Same problem here, on multiple computers, IE or Firefox. Any time I view a thread and then hit the back button or view my history it takes me to multiple iterations of : http://cocotiers.curse.com/300x250btfif, http://cocotiers.curse.com/720x90iframe. My back button is effectively useless when browsing this site. This has been going on for about 3 weeks now.

    Yup.

As i posted in the other thread, it's the rotating ad banners. A cheap, effective, and underhanded way to get multiple ad loads out of a single page load.

Poked the ad guy about it again; I think he was pretty busy with the pre-Christmas rush, but hopefully they'll look into it again.
