When someone asks the value of an item its always what you would sell it for in trade. AH is always going to fluctuate hugely depending on what idiot is looking at it at the time.

Alot of people get buyers remorse on the auction house because they go OOH SHINY 397 BRACERS! then they google them an hour later and realise they could of got them with VPs. I.e they bought them without knowing what they were and what they were worth. Counter argument: theyre worth what people will pay *shrug*
