    Can't be bothered to quote the thing someone said about Norway colonizing Iceland. Was that during the Denmark-Norway era? - No troll meant here, im just curious, like George, you cant be mad at George <3.
    http://iceland.vefur.is/iceland_history/history.htm - -->1814, 1944<-- - confusing, should've payed attention way back when.

    Iceland was colonized when Norway was not a complete kingdom. It is not wrong to say that Norwegians moved to Iceland, but there was not a central power the seized Iceland on behalf of all Norwegians. Norway was at that time (874) not ruled by one king, so the people that moved there where not governed by a king on the Norwegian mainland.

    So no, this was not done by Norway/Denmark. Iceland was populated several centuries before the Norway/Denmark union.

    Iceland was colonized by Norwegians, not the Kingdom of Norway. To be precise Ingólfr Arnarson was the first settler.

    "Norwegians" supposedly arrived at Iceland sometime in the 800's, this according to "Landnámabók" (the book of settlement).

    1262 til 1918 Iceland was part of Norwegian kingdom (a vassal state) until 1380. After that Iceland was part of the kalmar union where Denmark was the dominant power.

    The republic of Iceland was established in 1944.
