    go to Amsterdan,
Amsterdam is not a good representation for the Netherlands as a whole. Understand that the Netherlands is actually, in full, The United Republic (later kingdom) of the Netherlands, and contains 12 provinces, which could more accurately be described as 'Counties.' Each of those used to be an individual country, or a part of a larger individual country.
As a result, Dutch culture is severely fractured. The Saksons and Batavs, for instance, tend to be more prudish than Holland and Frisia. Holland tends to be more open and outspoken as a whole, while Frysia, lacking the prudishness, is still more confined, socially. The Batavs, Saxons, Frisians and Hollanders are the four extremities, as you could say, with the most distinction in cultures, while provinces like Utrecht tend to be somewhere in the middle, having been contested areas for a long time, so they switched allegiance/owners a lot.

But yeah; nudity in the NL doesn't seem to be such a big deal. And it's also true that privatised television broadcasts adult telephone commercials using pornographic imaging pretty early at night, while the public channels have a lot of shows involving sexuality and awareness. The show 'Dit is mijn lijf,' translated as 'this is my body,' indeed also features shameless nudity of the... More private parts, if you will. For medical reasons, of course. It differs greatly from 'embarrassing body' in the fact that, while purely medical in nature, there should be nothing embarrassing about it.
The Dutch women's magazine Viva also features a section with nudity, where two people are photographed (headless) in the nuddy, and they describe what they like and dislike about their own body, and that of the other participant.

Me, I like it that way. There should be no shame about nudity. The human body is a beautiful thing, and sex, in all its wonderful variety, is also beautiful. It's raw, emotional, gorgeous... Both to experience and to behold, it embodies everything that's beautiful about humanity. The tenderness, the willing commitment to one's partner(s), the unconditional trust, the seemingly paradoxical combination of weakness and strength, subservience and power, and emotional melding.
If anything, I think it is wrong to censor the human body, to censor sex. We've got too much violence as it is, and the one thing we should be proud of is treated as if it's shameful and even disgusting?
It's just sad, if you'd think about it.

Using only one city is never a good representation as a WHOLE.

It's like saying Germans always do X, because Berliners tend to do it... i was just trying to be funny :/

Oh, the examples were merely... An over-emphasised stepping stone to the rest of the response. Don't take it too heavily.

This topic has reached it's end. There's a lot of spam, and all the good points have been discussed.
