Need Help with Shadow Please

That is my Priest. My spec is Disc however I would also like to build a decent Shadow DPS spec. However, I do realize that I may not have the required gear for DPS. However, I've seen a couple of Shadow Priests gemming for Spirit. Even the Shadow T12 4 Piece has Spirit on them. I manage to pull only around 11-12K DPS on Single Target with that gear.

What could I be doing wrong? I had decided to switch to holy yesterday but I didn't really enjoy Holy. So I've decided to go back to Shadow. So would really appreciate all help. Thanks guys.
