    [Private RP] Searching the shadows

((This is a private RP concerning Farah Wood joining Umbrus via Charles Huntson))

Farah sat at her apothecary table going over what looked like research notes. Recently assigned to the forward command, of her own request she was still searching for the organization that Charles represented, but a symbol wasn't a lot to go on. It took her several weeks to even realize that he was in fact a worgen. As for his organization the best she could find out was stories about a few assassinations linked to a group but still had no word on the name. From there she only had vague rumors about their location somewhere in Gilneas. After several fruitless days of searching in the one of two woods, Northgate Woods, Farah had come up empty.

Under the guise of searching for important herbs and plants she was granted five Deathstalkers as protection. She didn't bother learning their names save the captain, Garth. Today's trip was the start of something much more dangerous. The last of the woods were the Blackwald. Still deep in worgen held territory they took several precautions. Scent scrubbing, several stealth enhancing potions, and all their weapons coated in special knockout poison of Farah's creation (slow acting but long lasting). They floated down the river half submerged disguised as a wreckage pile.

A few hours as such made the Deathstalkers, a little more than annoyed, but soon enough they arrived at a favorable shore and snuck out and down the cliffs and into the Blackwald. She held up a sheet of paper with her own rough drawing of Charles' symbol from the brief glimpse of it she saw back at their heist. You better be here. Tired of searching these damn woods.

The group continued further and further into the woods. Eventually, they came across a large, rocky hill. On it's eastern side was the enterance to a cave, most likely belonging to a bear. It was here that one of the Deathstalkers spoke out. "We've been searching for hours for a sign of those herbs you wanted, Farah. By Sylvanas, if I have to spend any more time in this forest I will become one of the Mindless! I have had it!"

The Forsaken ranted for quite some time, pacing near the forest's edge, while the other Deathstalkers began to set up a small camp. Of course, there was no fire, as that would give away their position to any patrolling Gilneans. They simply had some tents and a few chests for safe storage of alchemical ingredients. Nothing more.

"Quiet down, you practically are one of the mindless. Trust me though these will be worth it." As she did every so often, Farah bent down to observe some plants. Of course there was nothing particularly special here but appearances had to be maintained. As they set up camp she sat down staring at a long dead leaf of purple lotus preserved in a tube. A memento of her life. "Garth keep a watch for a few hours. I'm going to consult my research so we can find what we need and get out of these woods." She stood and went into the privacy of her tent and pulled out a notebook containing all the information she had so far on Charles and began to go over her notes again. Mostly old reports and files from the Gilnean's themselves, from the time when their city was in the hands of the forsaken. Not much survived because it was deemed unimportant but what was left Farah was able to obtain with ease as none really cared for their existence. You must know I'm searching for you Charles.

The Deathstalkers outside merely watched for any signs of the worgens, ready to attack. Remaining still and silent for the most part they talked quietly amongst themselves. Garth however stood guard directly outside Farah's tent. They had met once or twice and he knew that she wasn't a pushover but he was assigned by his superiors to keep her from falling into the enemies hands. His devotion to his service would not allow him to move away lightly.

Within the forest, a man watched the camp, a grin on his face. So she had come after all. The man wasted no time, drawing a bow and notching an arrow, one that glowed faintly in the gloom, aiming at one of the tents. Letting the bolt fly, the grin became a smirk as the arrow pierced the cloth and exploded, the sound dampened by the trees, though the blast was quite damaging. Shrapnel and body parts flew. More arrows, these aimed at the remaining tents (save one) and the undead standing guard, hit their marks. The ground was soaked in ichor from the shredded remains of the Deathstalkers.

Jumping down from the trees, Charles confidently strode to the tent he had purposefully remain intact and cut a hole in it to enter. Stepping inside, he smiled and nodded at Farah. "Ello."

Farah reacted much slower than she would of liked but after only a few explosions and nothing hitting her tent she assumed either she was about to be captured or he had finally found her. She looked over Charles as he walked through the hole he had just sliced into her tent and then over his shoulder at the remains of her escorts. "Not exactly subtle but I guess it does help for the secrecy for those pesky Deathstalkers to not be around." She closed her book and restored her vials to their proper places on her belt. "So I guess after a few weeks of searching I can finally ask to get to know you."

"I guess you can." said the assassin in a cheerful tone. Motioning behind him in the direction of the charred remains of the Deathstalkers, he said, "Bringing guards wasn't exactly the best call in the first place. Now we'll have to explain away how you managed to lose all of your guards while not getting injured yourself."

The assassin casually sat down on a table, arms and legs crossed in a casual way. "But you said you wanted to get to know me. How so." In a way, what he 'asked' wasn't a question. It was a command. He was the one who had the power here, and Farah was the one who wanted to take some for herself.

"Well I can't sneak away all the time or they get suspicious and with...past events my Society doesn't get much free reign. Still I chose Garth for a reason he has a tendency for playing the savior. His death will not come as a surprise." Farah did regret his death but she would remember him if this path led her to a formula that worked. She grabbed a slip of paper from her notebook and held it up to Charles. It bore the symbol of his group, "This is how. I've seen a bit of what you can do and the resources of those who back you have. I believe I can be of use." He hadn't been with her in the heist but she was hoping that the deed going down smoothly was enough proof of her skills for him, but she was not unprepared for a test. Either way, she hoped this would go well.

"Oh really now? And what makes you say that?" Asked the worgen, a smirk plain on his face. "If we have such vast resources, what could you offer us?"

Charles jumped off of the table and left the tent, emerging into the remains of the encampment. Bits of flesh and gobules of ichor were everywhere alongside the tattered remains of the other tents. The assassin breathed in deep, appreciating the scent of gunpowder that permeated the camp, overwhelming the less pleasing odor of undead flesh. Turning back to Farah, he asked, "What could you offer... and how much would you be willing to sacrifice to join us?"

Farah let out a breath of anticipation. She was starting to think she might even be underestimating what they could offer. "Experience and talent. I am not the best fighter but second to none in Alchemy. From the simplest to the most complex. Potions, poisons, elixirs, acids, illusions, explosions. Nothing is out of my reach. Even my very skin creates it's own." She walked with him outside. Normally such useless death would bother her but Charles kept her full attention. This very well may be the last big step in her plan. "Almost anything. Only three lives I can't. My father's, my own, and my Queen's. For this chance though anything else is yours."
