we went with a 2-3-5 setup and killed him on our 3rd 2nd phase(meaning the 3rd time we saw the second phase)

To give some background info, almost all of the raiders in my group skipped firelands. We quit somepoint before 4.1 and came back for 4.3 So we were mostly in heroic T11 gear and the new dungeon 378 sets. Since we got the kill on the 2nd week we had some 397 gear from valor to help us. (+ lucky loot from LFR and 10mans allowed me to get 4 pc tank set pretty early)



First week we only got to the 4th boss... (ultraxion DPS requirements.... we should have tried 2 healing :/)

We went back to FL to farm some gear, mostly for the 4th tier piece for our dps (since dps seemed to be what we were lacking most) and some trinkets. 2nd week we killed madness.

warrior/feral tank
fire mage/rogue/unholy dk/boomkin/destro lock DPS
disc priest/restro shammy/pally healers


We went for a 3-1-2-4, because we realized we will NEVER meet the dps requirements for the last platform if we didnt have blue.

We didn't try a 1 tank or 2 heal setup so we never tried if we could get the large tentacle before a second impale. (so we always saw a 2nd impale)

For the bolt itself, we stacked right in front of the wing tentacle. Our boomkin would be on position before hand to 'precast' tranquility so it stacks up to 2-3 when the bolt hits. We popped spirit link ANd barrier AND aura mastery, then as soon as the bolt hit I popped rallying cry for the extra 'heal'. (All of these cooldowns come back by the time phase 2 10%)

This ensured that all the raiders were almost at full health and able to spread out right away and dps the bolt, and the tentacle's slam didn't kill anyone.

Then we killed the large tentacle, worked on the wing tentacle+blistering/slimes. (Make sure you 'generally' assign dps and tanks with a blistering tentacle so they go down asap. They're a real strain on the healers.)

lucky (or unlucky..) for us, we never could get the wing tentacle down to 70% before the 'hemorrage' so we were able to deal with the blistering tentacles and the slimes seperately.

We made sure our dps knew when to pop defensive and offensive CDs. I gave talented intervene to my OT for each impale, and to out disc priest on CD when the wing tentacle was low on health.


On phase 2, we burned DW until the first set of tentacles popped up, killed them and the big adds, went back to dpsing DW, stopped at 11% and waited for the tentacles to pop, killed them and then the dps just ignored the big adds and burned DW till he died(this is when we popped hero). Both our tanks died by the end and only a handful of DPS were left to finish him off (he 'dies' at 1%)
Using DREAM(ysera's button) is key, + personal defensive cds are well worth the gcd for the survival of the last 9~1%.


TL;dR you seem to be having problem with the elementium bolt on the 4th platform. Pop Almost all your raid CDs to make sure most of your raiders survive with a good chunk of health. (unless you're killing the large tentacle before the bolt hits. Then you almost only need to survive it) Most of your CDs will be back for the 2nd phase. (except for untalented divine hymn and tranquility)

Phase 2 in itself is just a very intense burn phase(almost like the last minute or so for ultraxion), and if you're raiders know what they should be doing you will probably kill it on your first or second try of getting there.

2 tanks, 3 healers, 5 dps.

Green - Red- Yellow - Blue.
its quite easy.

On the fourth platform we stack in two groups very close to eachother, so that disc bubble can reach both, and we use spirit link totem and what else the healers and dps got.
basically every CD to survive the inital dmg and the following 5 seconds to its death.
