I'm really enjoying both Smuggler and Jedi Knight, and I thought Jedi Consular was lacking. Different players will like different stories I guess, I've known since day one that I'd be a Smuggler, and so I think everything he says and does is great.

I am darkside Jedi, and yes there's some choices you have to make that are very very hard to do.

For one, killing my master, Yuon when she is victim of the Dark Plague. I couldn't do it, and I didn't. Not only because she is my master but also because I've grown very fond of Qyzen and I could not kill the only person who ever showed him compassion.

I played Trooper and Consular. I have found the Trooper story much more appealing than the Consular one.

What? The Jedi Consular story is awesome imo. You have to be open to the role of being diplomatic, just and righteous to enjoy it; not just jump in, guns blazing, like I imagine most of the JK storyline is from the snippets I've catched here and there (trying not to spoil myself, so I space through most of the convo's I end up with, with my duoing partner).

The middle part of chapter 1 is quite weak I'll admit, and mostly there as "filler", but the conclusion is quite epic, and the entirety of chapter 2 and 3 weave so tightly into the main storyline of each planet that I'm sitting there half the time wondering why my jedi knight sidekick that I've duo'd the entire game with has no idea what the planet we've arrived at is all about and what's going on, other than the fact that it happens to house the latest Sith he's supposed to kill.

On Belsavis for example, the JC storyline interweaves with the planet's storyline to such an extent that it's tricky at times to keep one apart from the other. On Voss, so far, it's been much the same - although we hit 50 last night and took a break, so I can't speak for the entirity of the planet.

That's actually what I had in mind.

I couldn't kill her or the master on Taris. The guy on Nar Shadaa I was able to let the Hutts have him, but I felt like a douche, even moreso with what happens with his daughter after. Having similar issues on my Trooper.

My smuggler is lvl40 and I have to say that the first story was pretty great. I'm not too fond of the second story right now but, who knows maybe things will change. The first story you're basically treasure hunting while getting in trouble with other bad guys. The second story seems that you will get to face one of the guys you pissed off in the first story, Rogun the Butcher. The third story I'm assuming will deal with the Voidwolf.

I'm starting to level a consular and I have to say that the story sucks in comparison to the smuggler so far. You're basically on a mission to help some jedi that are in trouble as well as your master due to the Plaguebringer mind controlling them all. I sure hope the story livens up a little. My buddy did say that the second story for the consular is much better than the first.

I play a Jedi Sage and I think his storyline is awesome because you learn so much about the whole story. On every planet you visit you first have to know what's going on and in the end of each planet you have to decide to rescue one Jedi Master or kill one. That's a very tough decision even if you want to play bad because every master has his own story and tried his best to do the right thing and in the end it's like "will you kill or rescue your friend". The other storylines (played Trooper and Jedi Knight a little bit) are also very good but most of the time I don't care which decision I make because there is no bond between me and the characters I met. For the counselor however there is always a bond and it's very difficult to choose the right answer.

It is, and the end of chapter 1 is quite epic as well. Some pretty nice lore there, if you're into that kind of stuff.

Being an asshole trooper is really fun, but every now and then you meet an even BIGGER asshole than you are and you're like "You know what... I'm picking the light side option just to screw you, you ass."

If you pick a way to play your character and stick to it, the results are more often than not enjoyable. My next character will be an aloof, quirky JK

If you care about spoilers, be careful!

Trooper storyline starts off pretty average, at best, and that's being nice. The problem isn't the whole story, it's done well, it's just set up poorly. The initial story deals with betrayal, however, you have no attachment to these characters as you only just started playing. You spend the next thirty levels chasing them, and all the while, you don't really care, because you didn't know them long enough to feel betrayed and want revenge, it feels like you're doing it just because you were told by your CO to.

Now, after that story line is done, the Trooper storyline really picks up. It gets a lot more interesting. I did enjoy the first storyline, I just think it could have been a lot better handled. In the second part, shit really hits the fan, the Empire is developing a prototype weapon that can fire upon ships in Hyperspace. You get told about this right from the start of the second chapter and get told that you've got to fully ready your team for an assault on the ship where they are currently developing and testing the prototype in order to destroy it before it can be completed and go into mass production. So you get sent out right away to pick up a Demolitions expert, then it's off to Quesh ... because, well, it's a shitty little planet that they need you to go and level on, but there's no story there, so just go there for a bit, and then it's off to Hoth to get a specialist engineer. Once you've assembled your squad you lead an assault with your whole squad on the ship, you have to make choices as to who assaults the bridge, and one of them gets injured, leaving you unable to use them for a short while afterward. You manage to take out the ship and get promoted once more for your efforts.

So at this point you're a Major, you've promoted Elara or Aric to be your Lieutenant and XO, and you've got all your companions. Due to your actions in destroying the Gauntlet (the hyperspace firing weapon), the Empire has declared all out war upon the republic, from the words of their top general at the Imperial War Ministry (or something like that). From this point on you are sent to get elite squads off of backwater planets so that they can get to the front lines, so you go from planet to planet to deal with whatever is going on there and get them out. After a point you receive a transmission from your CO about a distress signal, it's Jaxo, a person you do some quests for on Coruscant, she's been captured by the Imperials, and she's held on an Asteroid prison with hundreds of other Republic soldiers. You go to rescue her only to find out it's a trap, you ultimately have to choose to save her or let her die, it's a hard decision and it actually left me feeling pretty crappy for a while afterwards, you know this person and you have to let her die to save several hundred people, or you let several hundred die to save just her. It's not easy either way, and it was really well done. So all the while here, you're actually building up a hatred for this General, he's really starting to screw you over, so when you finally get to Correlia, it's the middle of a Warzone, and Correlia is awesome. It's also sorta scary. It's a huge city where war has broken out, there's toppled buildings, rubble everywhere, troops fighting in the street, big tank like vehicles and all sorts, it's crazy, and it feels all very surreal because it's in a city, you run around opening up ways to get your troops on the ground unnoticed, and when you finally have gotten them all down there you lead an attack on the Imperial stronghold where the General is at. Here again you get to choose which squads go where, these are the same squads that you were just getting out of backwater planets, so you know these guys. You finally get to Rakton and you can kill him or take him in. I chose to take him in. It was really intense right up to the end of Correlia, really, Correlia is the best part of this game so far, it just shits all over the rest of the game, I really love that zone. Anyway, after all this is done, you go back to Coruscant and you get called to talk to the Supreme Chancellor, you and your squad get awarded the Republic's highest medal of valor, and then the Chancellor drops the bomb. She wants to release the General back to the Republic. And this guy is a fucker, he's responsible for nearly all of the Empire's major victories, and up until this defeat he hasn't lost a single battle, and outsmarted the Republic by far on almost all fronts. She wants to release him to save a few hundred soldiers. Things can get pretty heated here in your conversation, but unfortunately, you don't actually find out what she really chooses in the end. And there is where it ends. You get sent off to Ilum because the empire wants some colour crystals, and then it's on to the Level 50 Farm.

I skipped a lot of really good bits here too, Voss had some cool story too and some stuff from much earlier in the game crops up here too - in fact, you'll find things come back up again a few times, and it's quite amusing.

The Trooper storyline then just goes from good to better, and keeps on going. It's really loads of fun - to the point that I actually want to do it again.

Agreed. I cannot understand people call the Consular storyline boring. It starts out slow that's true but even my wife who plays a Smuggler thinks the Consular storyline is amazing. And to top it all off, what is more epic than hearing the bombastic music roar when you are crafting your own lightsaber and Qyzen pledging his loyalty to you!

I too played the IA storyline during beta to level 11ish (which is pretty short) and I loved it. I went all good choices.

Now I'm playing JC and while the story isn't as good, it's still PRETTY good. I recommend going dark side, it really offers alot of contrast and the whole "i'm doing evil but I'm supposed to be a good guy" lurking over your shoulder is strangely satisfying. It's all preference.

Right now I'm at the point where I go preforming a ritual to shield people from something (trying to be vague but give you an idea of what JC is like.)

Go dark side, it feels so good.

With a level 35 Consular, I can agree, the Consular story requires a certain type of player to be interesting. You need to enjoy the whole mysterious aspect of the force to be able to get into it. If you were a fan of Kreia and her philosophical speeches from KOTOR 2 like I was, you'll REALLY enjoy the Consular story. You're a diplomat/investigator working behind the scenes, not on the front lines like the trooper/jedi knight.

I am adoring the Consular story. To give examples of a few highlights, you're 'the next big thing' in the force, doing stuff when you were a kid that you master couldn't do when she was a padawan. You put all the other students to shame generally, you're everyone's go-to person and are generally looked up to respectfully. You also do some pretty crazy things like single handedly storming an Imperial Dreadnought. Then there's a lot of stuff that you do that impacts the Republic as a whole. Like, for one, you attend a peace treaty that can very well influence the course of the war

However, the companions are a bit meh compared to the others I see. I only have Qyzen and Tharan so far though. Qyzen's cool, but he usually just stands there looking awesome in conversations and tells people to watch what the say to me or he'll break their legs. And Tharan is adorable, but I can't bring him with me too much cause I'm a sage and need to use Qyzen :P

Also, I do have to agree with what Mogrutana said, it might take a certain kind of player to appreciate it.

I promised myself I wouldn't roll alts because it takes so much damn time to get to max level, but you guys are really making me want to roll a Consular now. The Trooper story is amazing, btw.
Why am I back here, I don't even play these games anymore

The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.

My consular is level 22 and my knight is 17 but I must say that the consular story line is better.

I actually feel wise and more powerfull then my knight. But I actually feel that I matter for the world.
With the knight, it is like I am a errand boy.

First of all whatever I think about the storylines won't affect at all what you would think about it. I could think one is bad while you think it is good.

With that said I have only played Jedi Knight and Sith Warrior so not much to say about them. They are kinda good

Personally I think it's far too early for anyone to call out the best storyline. In order to give an objective opinion people would need to play each class to at least the end of the first act. That being said, most people are going to say whatever class they are playing has an awesome story since they haven't fully explored them all, which IMO means Bioware have done a fucking good job on every class allowing each to be just as worthy as playing as another.

I don't like the Jedi Knight story. I would describe why i didn't like it but i don't want to spoil anything for anyone.

I'm playing a Bounty Hunter right now and i really like it a lot. For starters, i really didn't want to play on the Empire...and playing a Bounty Hunter allows me to role play that. You can have the whole "whoever makes me the best offer is who i work for (which just so happens to be the empire)". The companions are pretty cool. Mako is a girl after my own heart with her hacker stuff. Blizz is another humble companion. The weapons and techniques you get are fun. I play Powertech and i can charge around the place with my jetpack.

As for storyline. Without spoiling anything, its a story of being the underdog in a contest that shows no mercy. You're up against a villain who is well known, and devious and is going to any length to stop you. And you must rise to stop him. Also i should mention the male voice actor for the BH is spike speigel from cowboy beebop. For those of you who like anime.
