Dont waste your time going to balmorra for ship parts all the vendor upgrades are on the fleet in the galactic market section next to the speeders

Same place is a second vendor who you can trade your space combat commendations in for other upgrades

I am enjoying it quite a lot; but I would love a Jump to Lightspeed style space combat system; Free Roam space combat is <3

I love the space combat missions. They're a nice break from questing.

But its a mini game in terms of content. Thats like saying that a daily in WoW is getting old after you do it 2 times. Its just something you can chose to do, or not to do, and it has nothing to do with the story of the main game really.

EDIT: And the fact its getting old to the OP, doesnt mean its a solid fact. The space battles are not getting old to me, so..

No, not really. The loading screen before each mission will tell you what your primary objectives are, but other than that, it's learning by trial-and-error. The first time I did the first space quest, I failed. But once you do each mission and fail it, you have a better idea of what you're supposed to be doing in the first place.
You will find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.

To me its a fun minigame. Nothing more.

Quick question. When I shoot certain spots like main decks to a big ship and it just flashes a blue circle does this mean I'm not hitting it at all or it's just breaking through the shields and I need to keep hitting it?

I've never failed a mission yet O_o They're so easy so far lol

My dad and I had a conversation about space missions. He was saying they were almost impossible to complete. We discussed getting gear and all that, and he seemed up to par. It wasn't until later in the conversation I found out that A) he was rapid-clicking his lasers, and B) he didn't know how to use missiles! Once we got that alleviated, he says they're enjoyable now :-)

The space combat is JUST a mini-game. It's not supposed to be anything other than that. It's like...fishing in WoW. It's just something to do when you have time to kill. Unfortunately, I'm completely addicted, and religiously run through those things until I finally get coaxed out to go do more quests >.> I'm level 24 now, and haven't even started the second planet lol.

Most things with shields usually require missiles/torpedoes to destroy. The main deck on destroyers is extremely tough to take out. The comms array on the bottom of the outposts is the same way. I've put about 15 missiles into the comm array, and it hasn't blown yet. Just don't bother with them until you get torps at...50? I think.

To the OP: good advice in this thread, not much else to say.

As to the fun and purpose of space missions, I find them a fun change of pace. My main is only 33, and so far, the only real challenge has been the advanced bonus missions (the first ones that you can get aren't that hard), though the second escort mission is noticeably harder than the other mission at the same level.

Speaking of bonus missions, anyone else have problems with them? On the second mission, where you're taking out a starbase, the bonus mission is 4 of the little stations (I was killing those for the heck of it before this mission turned up), and 20 turrets on the ship, which as near as I can tell, is all of them. For me, the turrets are the problem, I get to 16-18 of them easily enough, got to 19 once, but by then, the smoke is so thick I can't see the targeting circles.

The other advances mission I have problems with involves taking out shield generators on ships. When I'm close to the ships, I'm moving too fast to really take a close look and figure out where the shield generators are, and again, I think it's a case where you have to take out all of them, so I usually miss 2 or so somewhere in the run since I don't actually know what I'm shooting at.

I like people that post this as a reply. Because all things in MMO's are not repetitive and pointless?

Guess kill 15 droids has more of a point then escort X ship through Y battlefield. Really? really?

The commendation items you can buy are essential later on. At level 40 you actually unlock some relatively challenging missions.

I know they can do awesome things with space combat, because the space combat works rly well in this game.

Remember StarFox64, they introduced 'Free Range Mode', where your wings would pop out and you could then take control of your craft? Remember the level that had a big mothership like the movie 'Independence Day', where like a million ships were flying around? OmG that was the most epic moment of SF64. If nintendo can do it. . . BioWare can do it in their sleep.
I like the idea the guys on "the republic" from game breaker tv had. Someone at BW said guild Capital Ships are coming eventually. How about Cap to Cap ship pvp, with possible some ship to ship during the fight? Or a boarding action ala Voidstar but more interesting? I for one think Cap ships should be difficult to get and take a TON of work to upkeep/mod... could be some really interesting stuff with that.
