    Space Battles - Hidden Bonuses

I just did the second space battle(Saleucami Fleet Action - Empire) for my dailies and I notice'd i could blow the Engines up on the cruiser ships which prompted a Bonus quest to destroy 8 somethings, think Shield generators. So this got me wondering 2 things, can these ships be destroyed(i think i destroyed one before cause i got a random 150 or exp for doing a drive by on one) and what other hidden bonuses are there?

gotta get more missiles though xD

There's bonus quests on most/all the space missions, and yes you can destroy the cruisers.

I noticed this as well. Republic side though. The mission where we have to cripple the ship. I THINK I took down two of the interceptors, one for sure.

Each space mission seems to have hidden bonus quests along side the main bonus quest usually to kill X ships. This applies to the Republic ones but may be the same for Imps, the space station ones where you are killing the ports, towers, and cannons has a secret mission to destroy the communication relay at the bottom of the station. That is worthy a healthy amount of xp. The one where you are killing the shield generators on the capital ship, along with its turrets, has a bonus quest to destroy the ship itself which requires hitting it repeatedly in one spot on the bridge. In a later version of that there is also a bonus quest to destroy the engines of the capital ship. There bonus missions to kill shield generators, destroy engines on cruisers, completely destroy the minelayer, etc. Essentially if you can see it and blow it up, there is a good chance at some point there will be a bonus quest to kill it.

The station, do you just hit the underneath like crazy or is there a shield generator that needs to be destroyed?

Anything that gives you the blue warbbly shield icon when you shoot at it can be destroyed. Having Proton Torpedoes pretty much mark which things can be blow up by giving you a different lock on icon/mechanism.

Before you get torpedoes though you can definitely blow up anything with enough concentrated missiles shots.

You just shoot the bottom. The same for the capital ships "cockpit" area.

    Really?

I've been doing those two quests, and usually spending the last 2-3 minutes of the fight shooting at the bridge/sensor with 20+ missiles... and nothing. Lvl 3 upgrades, power converter to weapons, and still nothing =(

    What am I doing wrong?

You need to concentrate more missile shots at it. I was destroying them with grade 3 weaponry I think. If not, then you'll get em at grade 4. I don't think lasers hurt it despite the shield flash.

Reasoning - There are these little things you have to shoot on a level 49 mission that cant be hurt with lasers and they are shielded just the same.

If things flash when you hit them, you probably can't shoot them down with normal laser shots.

Things like the communications array at the bottom of space stations usually take... I'd say around 15-20 missiles, so spam on it whenever you can.

I've been tracking every bonus I find, as I do them. 2 things open new bonuses.

1: Higher Level. As you get higher up, more bonus objectives do unlock.
2: Major targets. These are not easy to drop things. A command ship's command deck takes about 30 missiles to destroy. A space stations communication array (on the underside) is 20. 1 Photon Torpedo (at level 50) will wreck them instantly.

Now, as for major targets, here are the ones I HAVE taken down (Republic-side):
Communication Arrays - Both Balosar Outpost and Llanic Station Strike I can. Do be warned that until the patch tomorrow (Wednesday), this will likely crash your game, unless you finish it off on the final pass (around the 30sec mark).
Command Ship - I have ONLY gotten this on Makem Te Assault.

Now, these do not show up as bonus objectives themselves, but when you destroy one, it says "Bonus Objective Completed". The Comm Arrays are also worth like 2500 credits, as is the command ship.

As to the first point of how new objectives unlock as you level: At level 40, Kovor Ice Field and Pakuuni Defense had only their original bonus objective. At 41, they each had a new one (Kovor's SUCKS by the way, no room for error. Destroy 10 Shield Generators... there is only 5 cruisers, with 2 on each, and their shields take 4 missiles each to drop). As it stands now, only Hydian Way Blockade and Drexel Sweep are sitting on 1 bonus objective each. All the rest have 2, and a few got 3 (the big object destroyed one).

something I have noticed is that sometimes you get new bonus missions that you did not use to have so even if you have done something before and not got a bounus quest from it you should still do it, example is on the first mission you need to destroy 60 normal fighters, today I had a bonus to destroy 100 that I did not have before, there are some more but would take to long to write down

Actually, here, I'll toss up the table I've made of it, that way you can see how many bonuses there is (and their value). The bonus descriptions are not terribly detailed, but they are indicative of what to aim for. If one doesn't show up when you destroy the listed target, you don't have access to it yet.

Also, at least for the Comm Arrays (unsure about the Command Ship), you can only get the bonus for blowing it up once per mission, per day.

now that im a higher lvl, the space station has a second bonus to destroy the cruiser guns and the satellites, but the harder version of the station(Empire side) doesnt pop that bonus mission up for me, even though I destroy the same stuff, so maybe it has to with your lvl or how many times you've done it.

That is a lot of credit for very little work. Thank you so much for this.
    I'm still thinking about it...

Yeah, if you are a decent shot, you can clear that whole list of 9 missions out in under an hour.

Ya that happens to me in one of the space battles nearly every time. Love logging back in still having finished it with my character standing on top of the miniature ship.
