    Gaming keyboards

Hey MMOers me again. Once again looking for advice...

So recently I've upgraded a lot of my hardware, new PC, mouse, headphones etc. and I've started looking at keyboards, more specifically gaming keyboards.

And I'm wondering, what are the real benefits to buying a 'gaming' keyboard, they all look like normal keyboards made fancy to me, I'm currently using a Microsoft Comfort and having trouble deciding if its worth buying a new keyboard. I've had this one for a few years now, so Its getting a bit dated (plus I like buying new things)

Anyone care to guide me through gaming keyboards? I'm looking to spend around £60+ but if there really isnt any major benefit from buying one I might grab a Microsoft Sidewinder or something...

    Thanks,
    -Matto

Its a mechanical keyboard with cherry mx blue switches and its without the numpad so you get more space around the mouse area
i think it costs like 80 euro

I've seen the term mechanical keyboard used a lot. Does this simply give faster/more accurate responses to key presses?

Edit: Also, CMStorm stuff looks nice, recently went with one of their cases on my new setup

I will answer it the way i answer every one of these questions. Keep your keyboard and get one of these also...

    http://www.amazon.com/WolfKing-DK238...5679305&sr=1-1

I started using one of these during my FPS gaming days and I haven't gone back. It is shaped perfectly for your hand and with shift + alt modifiers I have 10 easy key binds to reach that doesn't feel like your moving your hand unnaturally at all.

These suckers are also durable too. I can't even count the number of times ive dropped it etc and it doesn't have a single problem like sticky keys or non-functioning keys. I've owned mine for over 5 years and am only considering replacing it recently because the light showing that it is connected burned out but I haven't lost functionality.

The setup I use is i have my regular keyboard in a pullout tray and then on top of my desk I have my mouse as well as my gaming pad. These leaves a nice large space of room say if your playing while eating dinner :P

Also, if you don't mind a larger keyboard, the same company makes that gaming pad attached to a regular keyboard.

The keypad on that I have heard is better than the stand alone keypad.

Well if you got the money for it and get used to the clicks mechanical would be the obvious choice, i myself have had Razer blackwidow since launch and it has worked perfect and with all the use its been through it still is pretty much "undamaged" which hasn't been the case for any keyboard i have had for longer than half a year.. And by undamaged i mean it has not a single scratch, all keys are still visible, works great, buttons still feel like they did when they were new etc... pretty much never going back to a normal keyboard again xD... only thing i would have to say is that people around me dont seem to like the clicks as much as i do..

Check out the Filco Majestouch-2, tenkeyless, Tactile Action, I'm not allowed to link but it's one of the best you can get. It's on amazon.
