    Need a motherboard

I am currently looking at upgrading I have all my parts picked out but my motherboard is out of stock. It would be kind of pointless to get everything if it is going to sit there for god knows how long.

Are the parts I have picked out. But I need a compatible cheap yet realiable mobo that is under 100 dollars. the one I wanted is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130576 but as it says, it is out of stock.

Also I need to not have a space conflict with the RAM and aftermarket cooler and I don't know how to tell before I put it together.

    I found this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813130583R

but if somone with more experience can tell me if it is good or not that would be great. I don't know much about motherboards just how to put things on them and making sure my socket is the right type.

I can personally recommend NOT getting that MSi Board. Had some issues with some low-line MSi boards.

Gigabyte or ASUS is the safe way to fly, P67 being the right choice, Z68 giving you the best features available.

I get a headache trying to pick a Mobo. I'm getting a 2500K as well and I picked a GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 mobo for it, not really based on much though, just flicking through some random reviews.

To check for space for your cooler best to google reviews, they usually have in-depth pictures of the board.

    What is the difference between

performance wise. I plan on at least a 10% OC hence the aftermarket cooler.

First one is a micro board and will really limit the features on it.

The MSI board you posted is a great board. I went super cheap and bought that with my most recent build. Zero issues so far, the OC genie is amazing, I have my 2700k running at 4.6ghz with the auto overclock. If you don't need USB3 is it a great starter board.

    ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3 $102 (MIR)

Switch your heatsink to something like this XIGMATEK Gaia $30 and save a little if you're on a tight budget and need the few extra $ for the MB.

can you wait X days and get $15? Or just drop the heatsink and buy it later when you have $30

Another option is ASRock P67 PRO3 (B3) though I guess that wont save you much. All I'm saying is don't drop the quality too much just to save $20 or wait x days.

Is the stock cooler on the 15 2500k good enough for a 10% overclock. if i can elimate the need for an aftermarket cooler i can spend another 30 bucks and get a good mobo

mmm I wouldn't overclock on stock cooling but why do you need a 10% OC? The build will run fine at stock until you get get a real heatsink.

The idea is to have it SLI'd in 3 months but functioning now.

    ---------- Post added 2012-01-06 at 11:54 AM ----------

Anyone know if this board is good for SLI?

Stock cooler can in theory reach (2500k) 4.0 GHz but if you're going to void the warranty by overclocking, might as well do it to get some real juice out of the processor (~4.3 and up) which requires an aftermarket cooler indeed. Remember that just because you got a "k" processor doesn't mean you have to overclock. You paid 10$ for the option and there is no time limit on that option. You can most likely wait a year or two until you see decreased performance in games and THEN buy an aftermarket cooler to overclock. This is where your 10$ option is worth it : at some point in the future, you will face the decision to either change processor (and in general, everything that comes with it - so a new computer) or overclock and live another 6+ months on what you have which can ultimately save you some money with new generations coming out, prices going down, etc.
