How good are Sorcs in endgame-PvP really?

    Hey there!

Started playing this awesome game a few days ago and enjoying it immensly.
PvP is pretty fun as long as there arent any lvl50 Scoundrels/Operatives hunting me all BG.

My Damage feels pretty ok so far. Rolling with Madness spec atm as Lightning just doesnt seem as good untill you get Thundering Blast. I can kill most sub-50 people with "relative ease" depending on my/their CD availability.
My question is, how bursty can a geared Sorc be at 50? I assume Lightning has the better burst at 50 due to Thundering Blast.

I chose Sorc as I play a rather geared Elemental Shaman (with DTR) on WoW and the burst I can dish out is pretty ridiculous and thats what I like :P

Pretty much. If you have cooldowns you can usually kill someone before he gets you. Class is kinda squishy otherwise.

Now i dont know wether its the Sorcerer class or the Assassin class but they seem to be pretty popular we run into Warzones with 5+ Sith inqusitor classes out of a team of 8 on a frequent basis. So without playing one i'd say pretty good.

either they are a little OP or just a favourite class, i've not pvped too much only valour rank 12 or played empire too much to know for certain though.

Has anyone tried Madness/Corruption spec for added survivability?

Instant self-heal+HoT and increased healing from DoTs. Not so bursty but the DoTs do a decent amount of damage coupled up with 0 CD Force Lightning.
I guess you'd be a mix of Shadow Priest and Affliction Lock.

I'm getting some pretty decent damage-done in BGs from Tab-DoTing with my current lvling Madness spec and I'm only lvl19.

Knockback, shields, high damage output, self heals, stealth, sprint - very strong currently : Has pretty much all the tools to survive and do a lot of damage. If left untouched they will destroy most classes very quickly.

they dont have that much dmg if specced madness lightning spec is the one that dishes the most dmg just like their mirror class JC.
Id suggest Madness/Lightning hybrid build it works better than combine it with healing tree.

I don't think they can stealth.

I thought stealth was only assassins, shadows, scoundrels, and operatives.

Yeah I forget, we playg with an operative who puts us in stealth a lot ;p

They do have the knockback that roots - thats a quality ability.

I am a madness sorceror with champion gear on all except 2 slots and I am pretty much invincible.
This is mainly because of 2 reasons:
    1) I am a biochemist and this is by far the best profession for pve and pvp, you got a permanent buff, a 15 second extremely strong buff and the by far best medpac. all those things are not consumed on use. so I have a very strong instant heal and with the spellpower adrenaline + recklessness + spellpower relic I cast 2 force lightning and a death field and most enemies are below 50% before they can do anything.

    2) force shield. with a 20sec lockout period, this spell makes the sorceror a survial specialist. if bioware really wants to nerf the sorceror (and I think they should), this is the place to start (it should be a talent in the healer tree). It absorbs the hell a lot of damage and _I am very hard to down, and I wear light armor. In my opinion the sorceror does not feel squishy at all, he is a true survivor.

add those to the many cc abilities and strong instant dots and damage abilites and you have by far the best pvp class. honestly, I have yet to meet a player who can beat me on a 1on1. most even lose when they are backed by a healer.

Before you call for nerfs lets just wait until you begin to face more players of your character and gear level. Yes you will feel invincible when the vast majority of your opponents are lower levels atm, but so would (and does) any class at lvl 50 with PvP gear. And the buffs, relics etc. you are talking about are not sorcerer only so you cannot take that into the equation.

Althoug I pvp a lot, I do not do it as often as others, I am just valor 40 while others are already far above 60. so I have met many with higher gear and the same character level.
The sorceror is by far the best pvp class, and it should be nerfed, no doubt.

and I mentioned biochem because its hard for me to separate it, and I think it should be nerfed, too. not available in warzones or something like that.

All that need be said is Madness or Lightning (Biochem'd up) Sorc in full Champ gear absolutely obliterates people.

When we pvp my guildee says he gets 5-8k crits depending on how many stims he's popped (his surge rating goes through the roof - 100%).

Once again; this is not a sorcerer related issue. Any class can do big crits with stims and whatnot. Maybe having biochem in PvP is OP, you ever considered that?

Healers don't need any help with survival abilities

Maybe(i think BC is way OP comapred to the other crafting classes anyway) but for me personally when i see a class as over represented as Sith Inquisitors(5 or 6 to a warzone out of 8 and no double bladed sabers to be seen) it seems to indicate that they could be a bit too powerful.

Now maybe it'll even itself as i PVP more or as more people hit 50, but it just seems whenever im on the wrong end of a warzone result there is a ton of Sith Inq on the other team.

is an all to common sight for me currently

Sorcerers are definitely one of the better classes in pvp at the moment. They have a reputation of being overpowered or even the best pvp class but that is IMO mistaken (and I don't play a sorceror). The reason they got that reputation was because they get decently powerful early on so they were godlike compared to most classes when everyone was still leveling and there were no high levels in warzones. At 50 they do fine damage, they have great utility, mobility and cc and their survivability with the shield is IMO a bit too much for a class with good damage and so many tricks. On top of that empire mostly gets huttball and sorceror abilities are like tailored for that warzone.

In comparison, everone laughed at operatives when we were all low level but they really shine at high level and the OP QQ train is now moving from sorceror to operative.

I usually get 9 to 11 medals a game, depending if rng gets me 5k heal(madness specced with exp buff+5%heal buff), and the game doesn't end too quickly I can get 300k damage easy.
I am not a biochem either. And I havent seen any sorc crit above 5k yet.

My gut says this stems from the sheer high number of folks that play SI. Lets face it, they look cool and have some of the best spell affects in the game. There are more high level SI player than any other class. Therefor, you're going to be running into them a lot and a lot of them are going to be 50. That said, the flood of SI sorcs you're seeing are going to be whooping tail. I think the key thing here is to pay attn to the level of the player. As a commando I'm finding that Sorcs around my level aren't too bad actually. I'd say I win more of those than lose.

As a healing smuggler, I don't see sorcs as a threat at all. They seem to wreck melee 1v1, but are nothing special against ranged. And they are super squishy. Even as a healer I can burst one down if I come at them from stealth. You need support, distance, and awareness to do well. Sorcs start strong. Two CC's, knockback, and a slow at level 10. By level 50 things balance out. My order of AC's as a threat to me:

    Operatives > Mercs > Powertech > Sniper > Assasin > Sorc > Jug > Maurader
