I am bored with WoW. I'll always love WoW, it's like family, but after 7 years, I just need more.
I thought swtor was going to be that more, but my JK is logged out on Correlia at level 48 and I can't even fathom logging in to play it right now. I knew it was going to be very similar to WoW, but I thought it would different enough to hold my interest. It's not, and it's missing so many things, I'm just beyond bored, sorry Bioware.
So I decided to check out GW2, having read so many people praising it here and on other websites. I woke up at 2am today and couldn't fall back to sleep so I just spent the last 5 hours browsing the GW2 website, watching vids, and reading forums with info about the game.
I do not believe it is a WoW killer, only WoW can kill WoW. I DO believe that it will be amazing. I want this game right now. I love everything that the designers have to say about it, I love their philosophies about game design.
I think this is the MMO that will finally manage to evolve the genre. It won't kill WoW, but I think it will be very successful in its own right and that it will introduce new concepts that gamers will love and that other companies will embrace in their games.
And btw, I don't want WoW to die, at all. I think WoW is in a way, the new Disney or Star Wars. It has become it's own entertainment entity and I think it is here to stay for a long, long time.
I love a lot of your opinions in this thread, and my thoughts about WoW mirror yours completely. WoW's been great entertainment for me for 7 years, but recently Blizzard has been changing it for the worse, and the concept behind the game has just gotten dull. The only thing that I have a different opinion about than you in this thread is SW:TOR. I love the game, and hope that it is successful so that I can be a part of a thriving community. It's great that Blizzard is getting all of this recent strong competition, because maybe it will force them to try harder to keep these veterans who are tiring of WoW.
