Giving LoL a try

So to start this question off, I am planning to give LoL a try this weekend. It seems interesting and fun all the same. The que set up looks a bit anoying imo (having to wait on someones slow connection I think it was). But I have no clue how to play these moba games and wondering... Will my ass be stompped out enough in this game that I would have no chance?
