I enjoy it. I just wish there was a faster way to get from dig site to dig site.
Success
Failure
It was useful at the start to get some BoA 359 epics, but after that.... meh, I don't bother any more
Dhozer - Tauren Resto / Ele Shaman - "Fearless Horde" - EU-Aszune
it was/is terrible at least the nerfs made it so you didn't go insane just thnking about it >.<
I was lucky though i got the vial recipe on my third jar :P
The gear you get is now useless due to 378 gear...the items you get have a long cooldown with a small duration (yay a wisp for 20seconds that breaks on any action).. so the only useful thing is the 2 mounts and the couple of pets..
Even then you can grind hundreds of nelf artifacts and not get 1 tol'vir rare >.<
I had high hopes for arch but it turned out to be busywork more than anything.
concept was good, implementation went from "awful" to "correct" with subsequent nerfs, but the lack of new content make it so that most people don't really care about it right now.
I'm not even sure blizzard now what they want to do with archeology, but its a great tool to add lot of lore in the game, which is always good and might get usefull in MoP
Hmm... it was kind of a "meh" in my opinionNeither a failure, nor a sucess exactly.
I guess they tried to add in a few awesome items like the mount that would appeal to the "I love teh grind, there is no grind anymore, everything is easymode ... grumble grumble ... silver platter ... grumble" crowd. Of course as with the reality of them doing this, everyone went "what is this grinding, I hate grinding! why can't I dig one hole and find what I want so I can go back to complaining how everything is too easy"
It's a shame they never updated it with new epics - or possibly more heirloom items / mounts / pets after the initial batch (and those few extra bits they added in later, but it wasn't much).
It was the kind of grindy activity I would have bothered with back in the day, but can't motivate myself for anymore ^^ if they had made it a bit less time consuming, I might have chased the items harder, but that doesn't mean I would have changed it, there should be a bit of content for everyones tastes, and this I guess filled the grind niche!
Great idea, Horrid execution, terrible results. Bit Like Desert storm.
What if, The light at the end of the tunnel at the end of your life, is the first light you see when your born ?
The concept model shown at Blizzcon (with a journal of archaeology, quests and stuff) was far more interesting than the result we got, that's for sure.
I wouldn't call it a failure because some items are actually fun and useful, but it could have been implemented in several different and more fun ways.
I think the beginning was ok but they needed to add more rewards every big patch so people with arch could get better BoA items tbh.
But mostly they would have to fix the way archeology works and make it less boring
Success in the begining, but GREAT FAIL when new patch came
did blizz ever mention updating the rewards for arch or is this pretty much it?
Milk was a bad choice.
It's a success nowadays when it got buffed. But at launch: horrible.
I voted "Failure", and I DO remember Fishing in Vanilla.
They never updated it (gear drop wise) who needs 359 gear when you can dungeon for 378.... the RNG is terriiiiiiiiiiiiiiible, and the grind makes me want to level fishing to max on all my characters and characters of everyone in my guild, and it would still be more enjoyable to do that then survey one more time.
How big....is really really big man's......Kitchen?
I wouldn't necessarily call it a 'failure'. Could it be improved, yes. But it did help me kill time for dungeon ques =]
to grinding for a secondary profession...still didnt drop the scepter mount after months of farming...pretty frustrating![]()
Well. I don't like it, but I'm seeing it as a sucess, as there's alot of my guildies that likes it. Just because I don't it can still be sort of a success..
