I like both, it really depends on the game. Halo CE I liked a lot, I rushed for sniper and dominated while everyone else used the cheap magnum. Wolfenstein ET is also one where it's not insta-kill, but I found really fun. Most of the time I played engi w/ rifle or CVOP w/ sniper. It's also very very easy to shoot in Wolfenstein ET since you don't need to lead your shots so a lot comes down to how well you can strafe and your positioning(although aiming is required if you play with riflenades).

In the "insta-kill" genre I really enjoyed CoD1, mostly because you could play a very aggressively and win. You didn't need to take cover, you could just rush the fuck out of an entire team and get your +25HP/kill and move on, very easy to pick up and play.

CS:S I found hard to get into because if you were a big noob you would get crushed every single round in the first 30 seconds and then wait 2 minutes for the round to finish. It discouraged me to play anymore since I wasn't having fun nor was I learning how to play better. On top of that you couldn't recover HP so whatever damage you took that was it. The accuracy was another thing, if you burst too much you won't hit shit even if you get the drop on them in close quarters, which is what annoyed me the most when I sprayed with an AK and the asshole turns around and 1deags.

I prefer the Halo 3 formula, but it really wasn't to different from an instakill, whoever got the first burst off usually won the fight.

I havent played many FPSes except iphones Modern Combat and TF2.

I like TF2 alot more cause i can think and react before getting killed. In MC which is most likely a rip off of battlefield or any other popular FPSes, its annoying to be like 2 meters from the flag and get instant killed by just one shot. Im not talking about snipers or backstabs, im talking about a gun that fires 1493291932 bullets per second. And then i have to restart from the base. Sure some people like it, maybe cause thats the only thing they want to do. Hide and hit when the player passes by and get a good feeling.

CS > CS:S for gun physics, it's one of the mainreasons why it's shitty compared to CS.

Having no regenerative hp gives you an incentive to focus that much more instead of going lulzmode spray-and-pray, it's that more important that you give your opponent a headshot. Just because your opponent has more hp doesn't mean it's an automatic loss, I've seen many people including myself win a 1on5 situation with less than 30hp because of superior aim or outsmarting the opponent, that's what I call skill.

CS is good but compared to other games, Quake for instance? Problem with instakill is balance issues, even CS didnt get this right since most people ran around with M4/AK or AWP because they was just better then all other guns..Mw3 is the worse example of this with akimbo machine pistols. If they could balance this perfect, then it would be prefered to me, but its next to impossible.

Games like red faction, yes the original, where my types of games. They where some insanly overpowered weapons but most where disabled (Fusion rocket launcher) and guns like Rail gun, while 1 shot and had x-ray scope, actually required skill as the slug it fired had travel time and you had to shoot where the enemy was going to be, rather then where he is when you pull the trigger.
