Don't you tinke tri spec would be justified for hybrids?

Ok first, this is not a qq thread, all i am gonna do is to state my personal situation and of course some of you won't have this problem.

    My personal Situation:

Raiding 1/8 hc heroic (rainding 4 hours a week on sundays), going to kill Ultraxion hc this week.
Doing pvp on a regular basis (rbg, arena, random bg)

Diszi for heroic morchock because our pally can't handle the morchock side alone
Shadow for Ultraxion hc because we don't quite yet beat the enrage timer
    ??? for pvp.

I already macroed my pvp specc obviously so it's not a big issue but i can't macro glyphs (if anyone of you knows a way to do this, this thread is redundant)

    What i would wish for:

Speccs that would be divided into pvp/pve equally so i can have my pve speccs seperated from my pvp speccs.

    What i want to know:

Does anyone of you have similar problems, and how do you deal with it?

Inb4: classic had only one specc, deal with it, macro is sufficient, go shadow/heal only, this has been stated before

Well half of the problem is gone in mists. With how talents work you get all the stuff when you pick your main spec then you can swap around the other 6 talent points whenever. At least thats what they said.

So you dont have to worry about a shadow pvp spec and a shadow pve spec, just swap the 6 talent points around and your good. Im not sure how glyphs will change with mists though =/

Personally, I'd absolutely love 3 specs (only for my Priest. Don't really care too much about my other characters, but for my Priest it would be amazing). In just DS alone, I play 3 specs. Because it's such a pain in the butt to respec for fights, I'm dealing with dropping my comfortable healing spec (Disc) in order to have Holy which I primarily need for Hagara. On 2 heal fights, I am the hybrid and go Shadow. This is just for PvE (thankfully I'm awful at PvP and don't really care about it =P).

Currently 6/8HM in 10m, and in those 6, I heal 3 and DPS 3. Of the 3 heal fights, 2 fights I'd prefer to heal as Disc, 1 I find that Holy to be far superior and almost mandatory.

Yeah, i'm aware of that but mists will be like what, another 4-6 months away? Thing is i really like cata, i loved every part of it, due to my working hours i never will be in the state that allows for unlimited gametime, still i was able to achieve nearly everything with the limited time i have wiht the catering to casuals that cata brought with it. I'd just want to get out the maximum out of my gametime pvp-wise.

If it were possible, I would carry 5 different specs.

    PVE: disc, holy, shadow
    PVP: disc, shadow

I hope we get 3 in MoP. There's really no reason not to at this point.

Well, good news in that case. Since you will be able to change your talents outside of combat without speaking to the trainer, you will be able to have PVP Disc and Shadow and PVE Disc and Shadow.

Actually I am curious how this will work exactly. Since the talent trees are not at all tied to what spec you are anymore and changing them is going to be easy how do you pick which spec you are? I mean I wonder if they are going to do something like in swtor where when you pick which advanced class you want you have to talk to a certain npc. Which would be lame because then if you wanted to switch between the specs you would suddenly have to talk to an npc to do it all the time...

I could have done with 5-6 specs but instead I levelled another of the same class.

As far as I know, it'll work like how skills in Diablo 3 work at the moment. Basically, you choose your talent tree like how you do at the moment, and that will depend on what trainer skills you receive. Current spells which are talents in each spec will be trainer skills, so Mind Flay, Dispersion, and Shadowform would be Shadow trainer skills, and Spirit of Redemption and Revelations would be Holy trainer skills.

You will be able to swap between the optional talents which you receive every 15 levels whenever you are outside of combat though, so you can swap between say Power Infusion and Twist of Faith whenever you like as long as you are out of combat.

My guidlies had a conversation about this recently and it was brought up that then druids would be "left out" as they have 4 different ways of playing. Unfortunately the only way I've dealt with it is setting up a profile for my bars to accommodate the third spec, and glyph manually. It would be cool to have a tri spec though.

Thats one thing i miss about rift. Having like 6 specs, and being able to change in a BG according to what we needed. it reeeeeeeally needs to be done in warcraft. especially for us hybrids. i feel too limited with only two specs. i know exactly where you're coming from my friend.

now why it would be justified only for hybrids?

Talents should still be a choice. If you can have a spec for everything, where is the choice ?

Blizz should never have implemented dual spec, since they did, the begging for tripple/quadruple etc spec des not stop. Give a finger and they want the entire hand...

There was a point and time when I, like you, gave a flying fuck about tri spec. Then I leveled inscription on an alt and crapped out a ton of dust. Now the only thing I want is a portable way to change my spec.

I think the Talents themselves will work like how Glyphs work currently. Changing Specialisations will involve going to the Trainer and changing from Shadow -> Disc or whatever. With this system in mind, I think there will be even less need for a tri-specc system since you'd just be completely removing the option at this point. You'd have a Shadow specc, a Holy specc and a Disc specc, then have a few stacks of the Talent reagent and the Glyph reagent in your bags so you can change things whenever needed.

Currently I don't think there's any need for a tri-specc and I think people are really looking at it the wrong way. Playing as a 'Hybrid' class is a bonus. Having the option to swap between two Healer speccs and a pretty strong DPS specc isn't a necessity, it's a huge bonus tied into playing a Priest. Sure, you might need to change between the three fairly often if you're in a Guild that's really pushing for progression/server firsts etc, but that's just making you far more useful to the Raid than say, a Rogue, who can only DPS.

That's how I look at it anyway but I've always really been against the idea of Tri-specc.

But I am a druid. I have 4 specs. Why not have quad spec?

I also enjoy pvp. So why not octo-spec?

  17. #17
No it wouldn't be. The point is that you should think about what spec you want, it should be an important choise, not just a 'minor thing'.
    Ty Rivellana for the sig!

It would also be nice if we only had to gear 2 sets for all 4 specs, they should make haste=dodge for feral, or even all tanks, (the faster you are, the harder you are to hit amirite?)
octo-spec would not be needed as you won't need more than one of the same tree come mists of pandaria, quad-spec would be fine.

With the mists talent trees, you don't have to think about what talents you want, they are the same for all the trees. It is becoming a 'minor thing'.

Going for hybrid PvE/PvP spec, rarely ever any important things I loose by doing this. Would love to have 3-6 specs though.

Imo it should be unlimited, they could just make it damn expensive to get new ones.

Yea I think that is probably going to be how it works... my only issue with it is for people who heal some fights and dps others, if you have to go to the trainer to switch between say holy and shadow that would be a pain in raids.
