Question Heroic Madness if Spine done on Normal?

We're at the point where we have no desire to do Spine on HM again, but how will this affect Madness of Deathwing? Do we need 7/8 HM to get Madness HM? Any source provided with answers would be greatly appreciated, if it is not based on actual personal experience.

    Thank you in advance.

You need a 7/8 HC raid to make Madness spawn in heroic difficulty.

If you don't feel like doing Spine again, you need someone with 7/8 HEROIC raid lockout to wait at Madness while the rest of your raid does everything else in NORMAL, including Spine. Then the normal mode raid group can join your extended lockout member and accept his 7/8 full heroic raid lockout.

Yeah, that's pretty much the information we've gathered. Our Raid Leader is speaking to a GM right now however, who claims that we can do Spine on normal, and Madness on HM. I'm confused.

Nope this is how it works

6/8 must be done in order to access Spine
Spine must be killed on Heroic to access Madness or It's going to say NOPE GO DO IT ON HEROIC SORRY.

GM's are often misinformed and say things that they think are true as if they know they are true.

Seems the community is rather unanimous on this topic. Between the community and GM's, experience has told me to not listen to what a GM says.

Our RL got his ticket forwarded to the specialist team, who said that the GM was wrong, and basically said what Alcatraz_ stated.

Some GM's have no clue what there saying, It's kinda weird. Don't ask why.

I'm thinking the GM is assuming once a heroic Spine has been cleared, you are now able to access Heroic Madness in the future. The question is will you be able to do normal the next week, and attempt heroic Madness since its yet to be defeated.

I'm assuming you can't alternate between HM and normal depending on bosses after you've defeated said bosses in HM?

im pretty sure you always have to kill the previous boss on HM to attempt the final one on HM. i don't recall ever doing normal sindragosa and then heroic LK.

edit: Guild on my server just extended their lockout to avoid doing it again. I suggest you do the same if you want to kill it before the nerfs.

That's correct, That also applies to Firelands within Heroic Rag.

Raiding with 9 people, we don't exactly have optimal setups for most fights. Taking this reset to gear up alts is very tempting, we just had to know if we had to slave through Spine, or if we could steamroll it.

Thank you all for the answers.

I can't remember if this was true in ToC, but TOGC 4/5 was tons easier then 5/5 so it was largely irrelevant, but it was definitely not true in T11, the only one you had to do like that was HM Cho'gall to get to Sinestra. (IE: you could do H Nef and Al'akir without doing any other heroics, and you could skip twilight council HM which many people did.)

EDIT: ToC and TOGC were two separate locks, I forgot so yea it was true in ICC and FL but not in T11.

Yep you can do Sinestra without H Council, I know I've done it when I was still HC raiding upon T11 and yes that's correct most skip Council.

We are working on spine and instead of extending we decided to kill any boss that took to many tries on normal, so I guess our chance for a pre-nerf kill is gone.

Wish these things could be more clear when they change it every tier.

    Was pretty obvious after Firelands.

Heroic Spine is a pretty easy boss to repeat-kill. I know it doesn't feel like it after the number of wipes you spend to land the first kill, but trust me.

This man speaks the truth. We actually one shot it, just doing what we normally do. We were pleasantly surprised, to say the least.

its really not that difficult after you have killed it once. the 3 tank strategy almost makes sure you kill it in 1-10 trys again imo

edit: oh i was too late nvm :P
