    Awful custody-gone-bad story...

    http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/20...last?gt1=43001

Sickening to hear of this today, not to be captain hindsight, but the lawyer getting a "i'm sorry, goodbye" message before the kids went over there, the social worker smelling gas and being barred from entry..someone should have done something, ANYTHING to try and prevent this.

RIP two little kids, sorry your dad was insane.

Always a shame to hear about things like this.

Unfortunately for fathers in divorces everywhere, something like this will probably be fresh in the minds of judges when custody issues come up.

Well this specifically was not a divorce, the mom is flat out missing at the moment. He probably killed her to. Or, conversly, he did not but is getting blamed for it and it drove him to kill himself (Completely asshat move to take his kids out to)

Well he clearly wasn't sane. It's always a tragedy when a parent kills their child because of such a severe mental defect.

Yeah, saw this on the news a couple hours ago. I heard about the missing mother case a while back, but as the news cycle goes I sort of forgot about it. Really sad to see this happened.

Pretty obvious what really happened here... this guys father was the real culprit. His son (the father) was indirectly involved in this huge child pornography scandal and it pushed him over the edge. This is what happens when bad things happen to people who aren't wrapped so tight

There are of course other things going on there but that seems like the main motive behind this imo

I love it! "The social worker should have done something! because she was being denied access to the children." She was being denied access to the children by this man, BECAUSE she was trying to do "something"...

If you read your own link you'll see the email wasn't viewed until hours after the fire.

Except,, she could have done something herself? If you smell gas, the guy is acting insane and is barring you from entry..break a damn window if you have to. Or you can watch two little kids burn to death. I guess thats a valid second option.

I saw this thing on dateline months ago.

This is a very weird story.

Back in 2009 the husband took both of his 4 years olds 'camping' in the winter time at MIDNIGHT in the middle of winter. When he got back his wife was completely missing. As I recall there was no evidence of where she went and he gave a bunch of stories about how she wasn't feeling well. Obviously the wife's family thought something was up.

Again no evidence he did something, but come on. Camping in Utah at midnight on a school night in the middle of winter? Yeah, right. Anyways what's bizarre is when he started getting the finger pointed at him his father started defending his son and they started a campaign about how the mother was unfaithful/loose cannon. The husbands father went as far to say that she had approached him sexually multiple times whenever they met. However when people cross referenced this with friends of the wife they got a completely different story, basically about how awkward she felt around her husbands father. Her friends detailed stories about how he would 'peep' on her while she was getting changed and to not make it awkward she would awkwardly pretend/hope that he was just doing it by mistake.

Gets weirder when the husbands father gets caught with child pornography.

    But yeah. Completely sad.

thats called breaking and entering. not only could you get fired for doing that, but you could also get arrested, face jail time, and get shot by the home owners depending on which state you're in.

hindsight is nice but in that situation she did what most normal people would do, which is call the authorities.

Grab cell phone. Dial 911. Police have a valid reason to suspect something is up and can just break down the door unpunished. But again, 20/20 hindsight here.

OT: I have no printable words to describe what happened without getting banned for it. So I'll leave it at that.
