PC Shutdown/Restart - OS Closes but Fans/CD Drive stay on
Hello all,
My system is about 2 years old. I am having some weird issues. Here is what I had, and did:
intel i7 930(i believe)
Asus P6X58D-E mobo
Radeon HD5850 Sapphire
Crucial 64GB SSD
xfx 650w power supply
300gb sata HDD
win 7 ultimate
I obtained a 256gb Samsung 830 SSD and Windows 8 Pro upgrade.
Installed Win 8 Pro, no issues, on the Samsung 830, and wiped the other 2 drives for a clean start.
When I shut down the PC, the OS seems to shut off properly but the fans and CD-Drive stay powered on. Waited 15 minutes and still remain on. Same for reboot and sleep.
*If I try this right when I boot into windows and the CD-Drive is spinning, shut down works fine. However once the disc stops, the original issues occurs.
Unplugging the CD-Drive, powers down correct.
Has the addition of the new SDD caused some sort of power issue? Have I gone over what my PSU can handle?
I had this issue for a while, but it turned out to be video card drivers. System would stay powered up, and I would have to cut power to my power strip to turn it off after the OS shut down. Eventually, updating my graphics drivers solved the issue. It was weird, but did not cause issues for me.
