    I've got this:

Pentium Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz
    GeForce 8600 GTS
    2GB RAM

Will it handle the game on like medium details? Heard it looks like crap on low.

    Hey guys.
Could use some help regarding wether or not my computer is able to run GW2. I tried this site http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx, and it told me that my computer would be able to run it just fine. I'm not so sure tho, as its a gaming laptop, which is a few years old.

OS: Win 7 Home Premium x64
    Ram: 4GB
    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P7450 @ 2.13GHz
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M

I don't really know that much about computers, so would be awesome if someone could help me out!

This can't be right. Your computer is better than mine and I'm using a Radeon HD 6450, which is vastly inferior to your graphics card. I manage to play with around 20 fps and a mix of low/medium settings on 1920x1080.

Just wanted to add my specs for reference if it helps someone.

    Intel i5 760 2,8Ghz @ 3,8 Ghz
    8 GB DDR3 1600Mhz
    AMD Radeon 6870

Running on all settings maxed but shader on medium and shadows on medium at 60 fps.

How long time does it take for the retailers to release new drivers that properly support new games, in this case gw2? 1 week? 2 weeks?

If you have a lower end video card, don't try to play at 1920*1080.
1280*720 is enough and if you can plug your PC to your HDTV, it will smooth things a bit.

New drivers for NVIDIA cards, 306.02. Try them out if you have performance issues.

GW2 - Benchmarks and PC build recommendations

Note - the case and hard drive are completely up to your preferences, I have merely recommended some decent examples. Even the motherboard can be changed if you dislike ASRock and prefer Gigabyte/Asus/whatever - just make sure to ask, in case you pick one that isn't compatible with the CPU or a terrible performer or something (I'll be able to tell you right away).

    Recommended GW2 build ($1000):
Aimed at running GW2 on "Best Appearance" and holding 60 fps average @ 1080p. GPU can be switched to a GTX660 Ti, HD7970 or GTX670 for even higher framerates or if you play other demanding titles. Includes a a 128GB SSD to install GW2 (and OS + Programs + other games obviously) for super-fast load times and greatly increased overall system performance.

    MoBo: ASRock Z77 Extreme4$134.99
    CPU: Intel i5 3570K$229.99
    Heatsink: Xigmatek Gaia - $29.99
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 2x4GB$44.99
    GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD7870 Ghz$259.99
    SSD: Crucial M4 128GB - $109.99
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB $69.99
    PSU: XFX ProSeries 450W$52.99
    Case: Corsair 300R$79.99
    Total: ~$1013 (before rebates)

    Budget GW2 build ($500):
Aimed at running GW2 using a combination of "Best Performance" and "Balanced" settings to hold above 60fps average @ 1080p. GPU can be upgraded to HD6870, HD7850 or HD7870 for higher framerates (but the CPU will start becoming a bottleneck).

    MoBo: ASRock H77M$69.99
    CPU: Intel i3 2120$124.99
    RAM: G.Skill 1600MHz 2x4GB$35.99
    GPU: MSI HD7770 Ghz$124.99
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB $69.99
    PSU: Antec VP-450W$34.99
    Case: Antec Gaming Series One$49.99
    Total: ~$511 (before rebates)

    Benchmarks

I dislike Toms but it's the only decent benchmark out at the moment, albeit still using Beta for the tests - but I don't think the above builds will hugely change after ANet is done with optimizations. This should settle most people's build questions regarding GW2 since previous so little data was available on how it performs due to the constant optimizations/tweaks ArenaNet have been making.

Source: TomsHardware Guild Wars 2 Beta CPU & GPU Benchmarks

    GPU:

This game really puts the GPU through it's paces on Best Appearance, you will need an HD7870 or GTX660 Ti to hold 60 fps on average @1080p assuming you have a solid gaming CPU. It makes my GTX580 run hot as hell.

On Best Performance or Balanced settings you can easily get away with a GTX460 or HD7750/HD7770, the game runs extremely smoothly at low settings with most of the eye candy turned off.

    CPU:

As shown above, an Intel CPU is your best bet and it's WELL worth investing in a solid quad-core from Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge platforms for GW2.

P.S - I know many people are getting sub-par framerates or framerate spikes in GW2 despite the above charts saying otherwise. This isn't your hardware's fault, it's far more related to the game itself and graphics drivers. Be patient and give ArenaNet more time to fix their game for the thousands of variations of PC's that peeople are trying to run the game on, the issues could be caused by any specific combination of hardware/software so it's difficult to get to the bottom of.

In the mean time keep experimenting with various graphics drivers (old, new and beta! Try everything!) and various ingame graphics settings (vSync, fullscreen/windowed, etc). Latest beta drivers are 306.02 (nVidia) and Catalyst 12.8 (AMD).

Depending on your sample size and AA setting, around medium.

It's a pity you can't upvote posts on mmochampion. Because you sure would get an upvote from me.
I approve of this thread and i approve of the example builds!

I don't think you can really rely on benches right now. The optimization with this games is completely bonkers for a handful of cards. I can run around most areas perfectly fine settings maxed capped at 60 FPS, but then when there's a bunch of stuff in the distance, my 560 ti will shoot down to 35% usage and my FPS will dip into the 30s with no additional strain on the CPU. Something isn't right.

Cards that the game has issues with are seemingly missing out of the benchmarks from Tom's. The 6850, 560 ti and most widely reported, the 7850.

Basically, there needs to be a buttload of optimization done on Arenanet's end. For what the game is pumping out visually, a 7970 or 670 shouldn't be capping out @ 70 FPS.
