because macs were never designed to run demanding games on them.

Should I be able to do maximum settings or no? I may need to go buy some new hardware because I don't like playing ANY game with less than max settings for some reason.
high for sure, can't say about maximum untill the new nvidia drivers are out.

There is a beta driver out do nvidia, its the 304.48 beta. I installed it for the last stress test, and it ran on max. with extra stuff maxxing it out more, and ran with a 62-58 fps, it was way better the the 301 drivers i had before! Check it out. oh, and the fps change with drivers was 46-38(301) to 62-58(304.48) ...not too shabby!

that driver is outdated, the latest version is the 304.79 though none of them have been optimized for GW2 yet, there is a rumour that a new nvidia driver will be released tomorrow.

Can anyone help me out... Not really savvy on computers but I need to buy a new lappy for this game (yes lappy - desktop isn't an option)

Gonna get it from the Dell outlet (I'm from the UK) as they have some great bargains... Dont really want to spend anymore than £600 can someone suggest which is best to get? THANKS

Well for 600 quid I can already tell you you are not going to be able to buy a laptop that will run the game 100% smooth.
Maybe on low it will but not anything more I am affraid, this for the fact that laptops are more expensive for less graphical quality, just keep that in mind.
As for what laptop to get I cannot help you, don't have the time right now ,when I get home I might try to check something for you.

Actually having had a glance, you might do alright. That Dell Outlet has i7 Laptops that have GPU cards that will do 'okay' with GW2. You're not going to get max settings but you're not going to be playing in jerk-o-vision on lowest either. I was searching for 17" laptops btw, there was bugger all of worth in 15" (you either had to settle for an i3 processor or an integrated GPU.)

The ones that looked ok were between £500-£600. I'm not familiar with the outlet thing, I'm guessing they're second hand ones that have been wiped and had windows freshly installed, and a basic check of their hardware or something?

Yeah that's pretty much the deal... although the prices next to the machines don't include VAT so it's a little bit extra when you click 'continue' if you follow me...

What about the spec I posted just above? That's going for £560?

Whenever I see laptop and games in the same sentence, I become agitated..

Btw, that GFX card is outdated, if you intend on buying the laptop new. You should look for one of these for example.

How cpu limited is GW2? I have a HD5870 lying around I am thinking of sticking it into my htpc/server that has a 2.7GHz Athlon II x3 in it so that I can play GW2 on the couch or when a friend is coming over for the head start he can use it. I am thinking of overclocking the Athlon II but I'd like to know if its worth the hassle beforehand.

Thanks, good to know I won't have to spend money, though I probably will anyways lol.

And I have the 304.79, GW2 popped up saying I should get that one due to it being optimized for it.

I don't know about ATI cards, err I mean AMD, when the hell did AMD buy them again lol. So, I'll let someone else say yes or no since I haven't used ATI since 12 years or something ago lol. It should, but IDK.

Will my friends PC run it?

My friend really wants to buy GW2 (I blame myself), but he has an older PC.

    3GB RAM
    AMD Dual Core 2.2Ghz
    128MB GPU (the issue)

Would he be able to play. I'm hoping someone might of downloaded the beta on an old laptop or something.

    Thanks!

I've been able to play it on my 6 year old laptop It's got a 2.2ghz intell processor 2g of ram and a x1600 256mb gpu it runs the game on low with like 20 fps in the open world I wouldn't expect you'd be able to pvp or anything but it should run it.
