I can still queue for NT, but that level may have a negative effect on gear/weapon drops and I'm not sure a pug would be appreciative of that, heh. Doesn't help that I generally don't like pugging as a healer, as I tend to get frustrated with stupid people I don't know rather quickly, whereas people I know doing stupid stuff is just hilarious.
I've actually been fairly lucky with pugs and even with cross realm. It seems to me the players that have made it to lvl 45+ in this game are actually pretty decent players. I think the difficulty level ramps up nicely as you get higher up and at this point you just can't face roll through content anymore. Just my observations anyways.

Can someone please explain to me how parties work in Tera? I know somehow there's a way you can apply to a party, but today I had someone join the group (I was party lead) without my inviting them. I really don't want random people forcing their way into my groups or other group members being able to invite without my OK. It results in a lot of awkwardness as it did in this case.

Anyone in your party can invite anyone. If someone applies to your party, I think anyone in your party can accept them. I'm not sure on the second part.

Heh I didn't know about this never tried to group farm nodes. O_o

I'm putting together some videos of the various dungeons I missed the first one BOL I think it was called. I ran it but never frapsed it. Here's a couple bossed from Sinestral Manor better know as SM. I realized my sorceress looks a bit nekid in the armor in this video. It's long been replaced now.

Okay, I have to rant about this somewhere. :P

So, my boyfriend and I were doing BoL. I was a priest and he was a lancer. He was really nervous not only because this was his first experience tanking (aside from basilisks), but because he suffers from terrible connection issues with Tera. (I'm not even sure why since we're on the same connection, but he lags horribly.)

I decided to find 3 local dps thinking that maybe it'd be smoother than getting 3 strangers with the LFG tool. (You know how the absence of personal responsibility when you're not playing among people you'll ever see again tends to turn people into impatient, greedy jerks.) We ended up with all melee, as usual.

One of the slayers was an absolute nightmare. I have never seen anything like it. S/he either seemed to think s/he was the tank or that s/he was invincible. Not once throughout the entire instance was my boyfriend allowed to go first and, you know, actually do his job as the tank. Even on bosses. (At the last boss we were sitting by a campfire waiting for stamina to regen when the slayer ran in, started killing the minions, and of course kited the boss back to us.) The other two DPS were marginally better, but not by much. I sat there frustrated wondering how any given lancer is expected to learn to tank if in the very first instance no DPS will allow it. All of the DPS wandered off wherever they wanted to go, fought whatever they wanted to fight, had zero concern as to whether or not the tank or healer were ready, etc. I started to simply not heal the slayer every time s/he engaged things without the rest of us. I'm not sure how ultimately successful that 'lesson' was since s/he would simply end up being healed by my AoEs.

Yeah, we probably should have at the very least kicked that slayer and in hindsight I would have. I keep reading these threads on the forums about elitist lancers and after that BoL run I couldn't help but wonder if maybe some of them have a reason to behave that way. I can guarantee you as we progress with my priest and his lancer that we're not going to put up with that BS in the future. At the time I thought, it's just BoL, let's just get the quests done and GTFO.

Honestly, that was my first bad grouping experience, but you know how it is when it's bad it's really bad. I suppose if nothing else we know who not to invite on any future runs.

That happens in all mmos from time to time, Lane. Hopefully it will just be a rare occurrence for you. However, that is one of the reasons why you don't see many tanks in diku style mmos (or healers for that matter).

I wonder why it is only group/party. Why it can't be just so that anyone can gather it if they both want it... Some games will have it that way, and yes I'm talking about GW2. ._.

I'm have created love-hate relation to this game:
    + animations
    + combat
    - community
    - holy-trinity system
    - repetitive questing "kill 10 x"

I can play max 1-2h and then I need to log off due questing starts to annoy me too much. Every camp has some kill/gather stuff quests maybe one kill "boss" quest and then it sends you to next camp. Seeing other player means that they are killing same mobs as you and gathering same materials. I just try to find channel that has least players possible. Do you know what also annoys me... the armor models. Everyone looks the same. It would be nice to have some BoE items with different looks.

I still play because I like the combat system, but with more levels and more xp needed to get new skills/glyphs, questing is starting to feel more and more... well... boring. I don't know would it be more bearable if I would have guild/friends, now I just play alone and try to enjoy the story.

PS: I made new alt, at level one I let her die 50 times. Now she is "Angel of Death". ^_^

Lane, honestly it was probably not his first toon and he was doing it because he thinks he is hot shit and can get away with it because lower level dungeons are a joke (well at least to some one who has been playing enough and has done then before). Not that it doesn't make him a dick... but I don't think you will see dps trying to get away with doing that stuff as much as you get higher. I ran with this berserker who thought he was hot shit in GL and he did that stuff on the trash, got to the first boss (the Kuma that jumps twice) he went in first, tank let him have it, the double jump broke his block and he died in seconds. After that he pretty much behaved. Even if they know they shouldn't, a lot of mmo players will try to get away with almost anything if they think they can.

Just wanted to pop in and say I started playing this game and it has appealed to a part of me that other MMOs haven't.

Yes, it is the same format, but the style is what makes it totally different. It's nice to have something that looks amazing, has a different stylistic approach that isn't *exactly* anime, that can be serious and ridiculous at the same time. Almost like what a high quality Zelda MMO would look like.

The action combat definitely spices up the repetitiveness of MMOs. Loving it.

Yeah the combat kinda makes it for me. The quests is extremely repeatable especially on higher lvl, but the combat just makes it fun

Okay guys, tell me if you think this is foolish or what I should do. Been playing WoW for years. Played Rift and Star Wars to max level but didn't like them. I got Tera and I love the game! I want an opinion on something that is really bugging me though. I want to tank. Period. Everyone online says to roll a lancer but I found it boring. Granted I only got to lv5. Then I made a warrior. I really like playing Warrior and got one leveled through the starter island to lv12 but everyone says it is foolish to do so as your first class. It also bugs me that I won't be able to use the dungeon finder as a tank until the 1st patch. I'm really stuck on how to proceed. Should I level up my lancer and warrior together for a bit so that I can tank? Or should I level up a DPS class like Slayer to get a feel for the game? Not really sure what to do. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Don't forget pretty world (bandicam fps on upper corner if someone wonders)

and toons (my new slayer on Velik PvE EU)

She is has the "cool" title that I mentioned earlier (and some gathering buffs) ^_^

Edit: topitopi: play warrior if you like it. Find guild to play with or search groups manually (on LFG they are actually looking warrior tanks) and don't listen the trolls on area/LFG. So far I have heard not to play mystic (bad heals), priest (bad heals), berserker (will get kick from instances due sharing loot with lancer tank), warrior (can not que as tank) and ofc slayer/sorcer/archer/zerg is just soooo bad at dps. ^_^ It will take a while to level so you can also roll a lancer to try it out.

Warrior is much harder to tank on than a Lancer but as soon as the patch comes you'll be laughing at instant dungeon queues.

Level which ever you enjoy, you can always level your Lancer later if you don't like Warrior tanking.

You can play classes at level 20 in the tutorial option when you login on a character for the first time.

You can't really get a feel for any class until you've played it to 20. You don't have enough of your core abilities at level 5 to see how it will play. Go back to your Lancer and give him 15 more levels. If you still hate it, try Warrior (again, to 20). Between the two of them you'll find your niche.

Just tried Golden Labyrinth and it went so bad...I'm a level 51 Lancer but it was close to impossible to get agro on mobs, bosses were fine but mobs were just...Taunt doesn't work, dps waiting doesn't work. As soon as someone starts dpsing or healing they go after them except me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong since I got all the agro glyphs I can for my level and a threatening thingy. Any other Lancer who has this problem at 50+ instances or am I doing something wrong?

Edit: Bosses were fine but taunt doesn't work on them either.

imo, lancers don't really get anything that makes them more fun past lv 10. It's just the enjoyment of tanking in dungeons and bams that makes it fun. Regular quest mobs will make you cry from boredom.

The mobs there don't have an aggro table. For the first few packs, you need to poke them, then drag them to the first room and fight them there. repeat that until the room is cleared. This requires the dps just stand there and healer to not heal though so gl with pugs xD.

Thanks for the answer and I'm glad to hear that. This isn't the case I hope in the later instances/hardmodes right? Because otherwise I see little point in bringing a Lancer if there's no agro table.

i love my warrior. i wish i could tank better with it. some mobs are just... wow insane. ovoliths, for me, have just about killed the idea of tanking with the war. idk what it is. np with any bams before. but ovoliths just... DESTROY me. i can't figure out the tells at all or they happen too fast. the dots rip me apart.

also, melee dps that stand anywhere they want. hey frikken idiots: i am a dodge tank. if you block me with your fat aman or baraka body so i can't dodge then we are ALL screwed.

my lancer vs ovolith: easy easy easy.

PUG with lancer, do guild/pre-mades on vent with warrior.

on a side note: npc casters with spells that follow you (just like WoW and everything else) are LAME. their rules should be the same as ours. i play a sorc, too, and my fireball sure as hell doesn't follow a mob if it moves.

Yeah the guided missile NPC abilities are pretty weaksauce. I was really surprised to see them in this game.

On my Zerker I always try to be on the boss's rear flank. If he's locked on to you (as Warrior tank) and I try to stay on that rear quarter, then as you turn to dodge him, he will likewise turn, and naturally so will I. By the time you've reached me on the rear quarter, you're already past the point of dodging any frontal ability on probably 90% of all boss encounters.
