I think a hunter with a tanking pet, would do best.

"Dear God, Please bring back Bob Marley, In return you can have Justin Bieber. Amen"
It's not a competition. It's a challenge. If you cheat, what's the point in taking part?
Do you really want to know why we're doing this? For fun. it's really that simple.
Some folks find raiding fun, some PvP. Others RP. Some like to challenge themselves with no reward other than that of taking part.
Remember, this is just a game.
is there any way i can configure NPCScan to scan for anyone of the opposite faction with *Iron* in their name at all?
just for.......... personal reasons. >.>
According to my random roll, I have to be a Tauren Shaman.
On my first roll, I excluded any classes I already have. This excluded my first roll (Paladin), and also Mage, DK, Hunter, and Priest. My second roll hit Shaman (I was secretly hoping for this, since I have all classes except shaman above level 20)
On my second (race), I exlcluded Draenei and Orc (I don't like them). I got Tauren. Happy, since Tauren would be my favorite race for that. Now I'll start it... Someday. Not right now, though.
I think the easiest class would be either Hunter or Warlock. Both get tank pets, Warlock gets more life abilities while Hunters get more GTFO! abilities. Honestly, I think a Warlock would win with all that focus on defense, but meh.
he he reading this makes me laugh, anyone who says they have already done it in the past to 85 with white greys, no help and without dieing is full of shit...simple
I decided to do this few days ago, so im lvling a shaman.. But im not signing up for anything, il just do it for me
I did make my own rule tho! since i want my char on my mains server, and my server is heavyly PvP based, so i made this rule "If i die by questing etc (then i start over), If i die by PvP (then it does not count). Would be impossible to do it otherwise, on my server..
If i was really serious about this challenge, and signing up, then i would have done it on PvE/RP sever.
Anyway got to lvl 22 before i died (By pvp), 3 ppl trying to kill me the last hour, i got away from the 2 first by running away/hideing behind trees (lal (o_o) ), but the last person that tried... Well he was stealthting feral druid 1shot me with heirlooms and whatnot.
Maaad.... But! I have my own rule for PvP server! >_<
Now go forth... unleash the tides of Doom... Upon all those... Who would oppose us.
literally only white and grey items? or quest drops work? i will assume buying BoE's off the AH is against since no way to see where the gold came from.
allowed to quest - but not keep rewards??
Still I cry, tears like pouring rain, Innocent is my lurid pain.
Get from level 1-85 using the rules below.
Here are the Rules as we have them:
1) No Heirloom gear
2) Only White or Grey gear is allowed
3) No enhancements to gear --unless a class ability
4) No External Buffs --no food/item buffs or buffs from other players, but your class ability buffs are permitted
5) No Potions/Flasks/Elixirs --unless needed for questing
6) No Talents/Pet Talents/Specialization. No Glyphs
7) No Guilds (Unless its a level 1 guild designed for this challenge)
8) No groups
9) No Dungeons/Raids
10) No Battlegrounds/Arenas
11) No professions or secondary skills - except for first aid.
12) No add-ons that assist in leveling/combat.
13) No sending gold or items from other toons. (bank alts for the specific challenger are okay)
14) No RAF (Obvious, right?)
15) THE BIG ONE: If you die, that character is out of the challenge
Leveling like this is fun..it is not impossible or crazy hard, just need to actually pay attention and be careful.Hard part start after lv 60.
Personally i quitted and wanted to have break untill MoP because WoW became boring to me, but decided to give Ironman a try.
This challenge is just something fresh in WoW. Who don't like it he don't have to do it but for many of us this is great fun.
Its stupid and not a true challenge. Anyone can do it. Its just another "look at me I did something the hard way for the sake of doing it the hard way and taking longer than necessary to level" gimmicks. Only the people who want to do it care while everyone else doesn't care and thinks its a waste of time. And among people wasting their time on a video game... Damn, thats a waste of time.
Highest is actually 72 that I know of - a Belf Hunter called Ironmin on Earthern Ring EU - although she died on Sunday night.
My highest so far is 16 - an Orc Shaman who died to a mutant goblin in Aszhara - killed the goblin but his tentacles drop off and keep attacking and they're what killed me.
And Herethebeef - how is it a waste of time if you're enjoying something? But then I guess someone enjoying an activity that you don't enjoy is probably a concept you don't understand.

Iron-man challenge sounds like one hell of a time sink but hey, MOP isn't gonna be ready until around September so why the hell not![]()
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve --
is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'
This is amazing, i hope they give you guys a FOS for it, or some kinda gift. Keep up the good work!
only two sources I trust. Glen Beck and singin' woodland creatures - Early Cuyler
For every moment of triumph, for every instance of beauty, many souls must be trampled.
Hunter S. Thompson
made a goblin warrior and died at level 7. suddenly miss miss miss and dead.
made a goblin hunter and died at level 10. suddenly got 200 damage by insivible ninjas while fighting a big mob.
made a mage and didnt die until now \o/. lvl 6 female gnome :3
I'd be surprised if anyone gets anything. It's meant to be a personal challenge. If Blizzard got involved it would kinda ruin it, as all the Blizzard haters would start screaming and yelling about something that wasn't fair and then start dreaming up ways to cheat the system.
From what I know, this was started out by some random people, the word spread and a Blizz mod took noticed and gave it some limelight. from there, more people joined and more haters started hating. If it gets too popular, there will be endless threads on MMO about how the Ironman people ruined the game and caused a loss of subs.
I'm doing it because I like the challenge and makes leveling a little more edgy. No longer can I just run in with my full heirloom geared self and ROFL stomp multiple mobs and never drop below half health, now I see a rare spawn and wonder if I'm going to be able to down it and that's just level 22
And already a little mod out for people

Why should I? Whats my reward? Surprising you? Oh wow, I earn the surprise and admiration of some random person on the internet. Woo. Sorry, even with such a glorious prize. Waste of time.
And besides. I would never participate in something that could knock you out of the running because of a lag spike, random DC, blizzard DC, or getting killed because you accidentally got flagged. Oh, but lemmie guess the iron man challenge takes place on PvE realms? Why not show you are the ULTIMATE IRON MAN and do it on a PvP realm.

Yeah I have to agree with you. The "challenge" is not possible on a PvP realm because every death does knock you out, even PvP deaths. This is just silly and the fact that lots of ppl got lag and random DCs is just stupid.
I would smash my PC when I died at lvl 70+ due to lag or something and my efforts where for nuts. The competition is kinda cool otherwise but the no-death kills it for me.
