FFX (Final Fantasy 10) Best Game Ever. Reminiscing.

If you listen to this song, you will instantly want to pick up your PS2 controller and play this game again. At least I did.

Orchestra version performed by the man who made all the FFX music. Truly beautiful.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjsOP...eature=related

The story is one of the most important parts of an RPG, and it is difficult to pick just one model to emulate. A straight re-hash of Final Fantasy X's story wouldn't be good, but it has many themes worth revisiting. The game explores love, loss, family, and sacrifice in compelling ways, and reminds us that great stories don't always need happy endings. This game has the most memorable music and memorable story line I have ever played. The battle system is what sets it apart from other games, which is something I quite enjoy actually. The fully-turned based system gives it a more strategic feel. The Sphere Grid isn't what makes the game easy. If you're using the normal sphere grid it would be no different than a normal Level Up system, since pretty much the entire way is blocked by lock spheres. What makes it easy is the enemies themselves (too weak most of the time and require very little startegy) and because of the fact you see when they get a turn. You can arrange everything perfectly. That's why it's easy imo. Also, blitzball was fuckin awesome.

Seriously, I would rate this game 100/10 for the story; Truly amazing.

Can anyone else agree with me on this one?
Maybe share of your past experiences you remember in the game?

No, I never liked 10. The music was good but I grew tired of Tidus very quickly, hell even Yuna started to annoy me.

Best Final Fantasy was 6 hands down.

I've always rated FFX as 9/10 or 10/10 in just about every category. The only thing that has ever kept it from being one of my favorite games ever was horrible voice acting and the god awful trials. I would have preferred no voice overs rather than what we were given (except for Auron).

Final Fantasy X was the second most garbage FF game in existence. Even FFX-2 was better. First being FF8, gods that game was garbage.

FFX was just...I don't know how to say it. Too mainstream, I guess. It just felt like a Disney movie. The gameplay was pretty solid, although I much prefer the old-school battling style, FFX's battles were pretty well done. Couldn't STAND the story though. Maybe had I been 15 years younger when I played it, I would've enjoyed it more.

For the record, while I do like FFVII, I don't think it was the best. FFV is my favorite.

Ironically FFX beats the shit out of every FF released since, because they've taken the franchise in the completely wrong direction.

7 was like 10x better than 6. All 6 had going for it was an evil clown. 10 had horrible voice acting though, and the 'international' version had stupid black things all over that place that you couldn't kill without having the ultimate weapons but you couldn't get the ultimate weapons cause there were stupid black things in the way. 10 had a crap story as well with charaters that you had no simpathy for (except Rikku) because they were so one dimensional.

And let's not forget tidus grunting -all the time- for no reason.

Undoubtedly. My favorite game of all time, period.

Playing the game was by all means, a journey. I got so connected to the storyline and characters that I was wishing that the game would never end. And when it did, I felt like applauding (But that would'a looked silly :P)

No other game to this date has even come close to the depth of the story, not even another Final Fantasy game. Everything about it was purely fantastic, and listening to the music again is really nostagic indeed. Might have to break out the PS2 and play this one again.

What in the world are you smoking.

FFX's story was about how religions prop up the status quo in ways that benefit the ruling elite, evoking "Sin" as an excuse.
FFV's story was about how...a tree wants to destroy everything? I think that's more or less it.

I could just as easily say that all 7 had going for it was a long-haired mama's-boy with a comically long sword and a spiky-haired anime protagonist with no personality and an even more comically over-sized sword. I however liked both, though 6 was better since I liked all the characters.

10 was solid for me, but as stated elsewhere in the thread, the voice-acting could have been better. The music and atmosphere were pretty well done in general though. It's a good game, but not really the greatest ever.

I can agree that it's a great game, it was the last Final Fantasy I really loved. All the other since have just been getting worse, although I haven't played XIII-2 yet.

The story was great as I have always had a soft spot for the summoning in FF's and the story centered around that so I was in heaven. The whole concept of Sin was amazing as well. Auron is my favorite character from a Final Fantasy game, and I loved the sphere system. XII's grid system always seemed like a bad version of X's amazing sphere one for me.I personally don't have one thing bad about the game to say aside from Tidus' voice acting occasionally but most of the time and when it matters it's fine.

Also, <3 Blitzball, that ate up so much of my time back then. As far a mini-games go it rivaled VIII's card game for me which I also loved.

The generalist looks outward; he looks for living principles, knowing full well that such principles change, that they develop. It is to the characteristics of change itself that the mentat-generalist must look. There can be no permanent catalogue of such change, no handbook or manual. You must look at it with as few preconceptions as possible, asking yourself, "Now what is this thing doing?" -Children of Dune

Yes! While I was playing this last week, going through the whole story was amazing. The music completely makes the game, as well as the story.

Luckily enough everyone can have their own opinion - the soundtrack was definitely great. I'd enjoy the remake but sadly it turns out as a simple rehash as far as I remember which is rather disappointing considering all the other hd versions of older games.

I have to say that while I enjoyed FFX, for me, it wasn't the best Final Fantasy game out there. Personally I've always loved FFIV. I loved the characters and the story, second to that was FFVI. Of course the best rpd ever made was Chrono Trigger, at least in my opinion.

FFX was a great game. Not my favorite FF, but definitely memorable and one of the all time great post-SNES rpgs.

The moment that I fell in love with the game was about halfway through, after Yuna tells Tidus that she's learned to smile about the things that make her sad in order to provide hope for the people of Spira. When Tidus learns that Yuna will not survive her encounter with Sin because she must be sacrificed, he realizes that every time he mentioned the things they could do together or places they could go once their adventure was over, she looked at him and smiled.

edit: Found this when I was looking for the quote.

"A summoner's confident smile is always a great encouragement to us." This is what a random Spiran said on the S.S. Liki. And it is so true - the summoners are Spira's only hope for peace. Summoners have the most important job in Spira, and so they are some of the most respected people in society. They cannot afford to show sadness or despair, because they are Spira's hope, and if Spira's hope is gone, then where can the people look?

Yuna is a pro at concealing her sorrow. She's always smiling, and she can't always be feeling happy. With such a bleak future ahead of her, Yuna has little reason to be happy. Even so, she rarely breaks down, and even then, in front of only the few she trusts the most. As she says, summoners are Spira's ray of light. "A lot of people in Spira depend on us." As she tells Tidus, "I learned to practice smiling when I'm sad, you know? I know it's hard." Tidus can't always tell when Yuna is smiling for the sake of others' comfort and reassurance.

The summoner's pilgrimage is not a joyous parade. The summoner and his or her guardians know that they're walking down the path to their own deaths. No one wants to reach the end, and yet they know that they must if they want to work for the greater good. This is why Yuna wants her "journey to be full of laughter." Even at the most mentally exhausting and difficult moments, Yuna hopes that the party can try to be cheerful. Overlooking Luca, she and Tidus force themselves to laugh. This is one of the most ridiculous scenes in the entire game, but it really communicates that Yuna is trying her best to keep everyone's spirits up even though her own heart is breaking.

She always tries to put up a brave face in front of others. As Kimahri says, "If we worry, she tries harder. Do not frown." Yuna has to show a happy face. As Tidus tells her about Zanarkand and how they can go back after she defeats Sin (since he doesn't know that she will die), Yuna just smiles and nods. She is excited by the prospect of seeing it, she is happy for a moment's peace in front of the ocean, but she knows that it can never happen.

Over the course of her pilgrimage, the party shares a few lighthearted moments. They laugh about small, trivial things. Tidus, as the outsider, later realizes that he was the only one who was actually laughing. "Laughing must have been the only thing keeping them going.".

The same carries over in FFX-2. She's saved the world, and yet, she cannot be truly happy, because she lost so many friends in the battles with Sin. She's much more vivacious and cheerful without the weight of Sin. She's usually smiling to others around her. But when she's alone, melancholy steals across her heart, and she can't help but feel sad.

My favourite scene is when the whole party goes to save Yuna from marrying Seymour, and then she jumps and has Valefor save her. That was very well done. Also, the lake scene is excellent, and the Mi'hen battle against Sin. The initial cutscene where Sin destroys Zanarkand was great, and so was Auron's leaving at the end.

in my opinion ffx has the second best story, beaten by 7, but gameplay it was probably one of the best, and well gt love blitzball best minigame they ever made, and summons now where fighting monsters not just someone you called down to make one attack, overdrive system was also a good way to use strong attacks wich you could activate by different ways of fighting, probably the game with one of the best themes, tho the boss battle theme arnt up to those off ff7 and 8, except for the theme against seymoure guado, wich is probably one of the best theme they made.

I don't smoke anything, maybe that's why. Really not sure where you're getting a tree from...maybe I need to start smoking the same shit you are, and then I'll have a better point of view on games.

FFV's story was the typical 'bad guy tries to destroy the universe'. Very cliche, but something we're used to. FFX tried to bring in real-life dilemmas to make their game hit home. No thanks, if I wanted to do that, I'd read the news paper and join the peace corps. I think that's why I didn't like 8, they tried doing something similar.

I really enjoyed 9, btw. They tried going back to their roots, with characters reminiscent of the old classes. Was definitely far more comical than 8 was ><

So.. I must buy this game. And FF6 too. Once again, I will go through both.
I was raised from a broken seed, I grew up to be an unwanted weed.
Ever faster the time exceeds me, little harder again to remember... *You*

Yeah 9 has a place in my heart as well. I really liked how the game picked up at the 2nd disc and how all the characters meshed well together. Vivi is awesome.

But, I'm set on FFX. After playing 7,8,9,10,10-2, and 12, I gotta say 10 was the best.
